He spoils me, but in exchange I do all the house work, all the finances, all the aviary work, all the horse training and work, and almost all the yard work. (I still think he gets the better end of the deal. :p

neat husband Is this a mothers day present:rolleyes:. and luvmytoo we used to have chickens and I love watching them wandering around the yard. Just for fun when their grown up give them some leftover mashed potatoes. They look so cute with little white beards.and they lovethem. Also the more bugs and plants they supplement their diet with the darker orangs the eggs are and the better tasting the eggs are. Alison and sweetie pie:D

Yes, both are proven breeding pairs. They came from a friend of ours who due to the loss of the space he kept them in had to let some pairs go. He only breeds greys and galahs. I'll put some photos up later. Not a special occasion gift. I have been saying for a while that I needed another pair of Congo's and Rosie's and then I'd be done... so maybe he just wanted me to be done? He got a good deal so I can see why he did it... not to mention we know the pairs history. I think he only paid $1000 for the Grey pair and $1500 for the Rosie's. Around here that's cheap for proven pairs. (Grey pairs usually $1200 to $1500, and Rosie pairs start around $2500 and go up from there. It actually works out well since I have 2 pairs of Amazons here that were on breeder loan and are leaving next week. I'm not trying to sound smug or prissy, I am genuinely excited that we got two good pairs for a good price and they're in good health :D

I'm jealous. Hubs and I have been talking and I've decided what I want to do when I "grow up"... the problem is he doesn't think it's realistic for me :( But it involves breeding birds, so I'm definitely jealous of you right now! Congrats!

Oh , my husband and I have had that conversation , but just a little differently.
We say , when grow up we want our own farm , with sheep , goats , chickens , horses
We have enough acres but still want more , so we need to find something maybe on the Northfork. Till then , I will be starting our farm here slowly.....
I asked him what I could get and he said anything you can keep inside he sheep fencing ! SO........that leaves me with a lot of choices :)
I always wanted a Alpaca , lolol.

Not sure yet....a friends daughter had her chicks shipped .
I forgot what kind she ended up getting ( I was jealous of a 11 year old ). But when her chicks came , the post office called their house and said their package arrived and it's chirping :). Please come get it , lolol.

I think we may start off with what Agway ( farm supplies , outdoor supplies )
Have. They usually have a nice selection. I have seen them before and was all googly eyed looking at them when Hubby would drag me away , lolol.
I used to like the Silkies , back when I was actually looking at them on the computer.....any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated
though. Maybe on another thread , I kinda hijacked this one :11:
Sorry ShreddedOakAviary. :11: sorry guys

Nah, no big deal. I personally like barred rocks (even tempered, very broody, and the Roosters are gorgeous! The americanas are really neat too. Lay green eggs, have weird fluffy faces.

Buff Orpingtons are nice too......it's all coming back to me , lol.
I just found out that we do have to order them at Agway and they will be in May 21st.
We can order them online , some will see what breeds they have available.
This is all new to me , just like my baby goats. , so like I said , all advice will be greatly appreciated. My husband has had chickens , so we aren't that green , lolol.
Just with the goats , lolol.
