i just cant stand it! i was looking at cages today at pet supplies plus and stopped by the birds. there was a society finch laying on the floor with labored breathing in the corner. i told the guy working there and he said they have been keeping an eye on her. he said they think its a she and they think its laying eggs! my finch has layed eggs before and she doesnt do that! now that i think about it, what if shes egg bound? i feel horrible thinking about it. i wish i could take her but i cant

. gosh i hate chain stores! they dont even know that much about the birds there, they're so greedy, just take the poor thing to the vet. UGH!!!

That makes me very mad too!! Poor little girl!! It's not right for them to just let her suffer while they supposedly "keep an eye on her". That is just not right at all!!!!!

Wow. That awful! I have a chain store that I go to, but the people are extremely knowledgeable and would never allow a bird, or any animal for that matter, to suffer like that! That's sickening

i know some chains are good but this is crazy! the other bird in the cage was really tiny, im just so angry. my parents might let me get her because at this point the store is closed so i expect her to be dead or dying in the morning but i wanted to buy her to give her a comfortable place to die

. i want to put her in an hospital cage with some egg food, calcium plus, and a soft nest. there wasnt even a nest in the cage! are you kidding, when a bird is laying eggs you give them a nest! i dont want to support a bad store but i cant leave a bird to just die on the floor

That is so wrong !! OMG
I would make a scene tomorrow if she is still alive !
Ask to see the store manager. It's a terrible thing to witness and to be told by
the uneducated kids that work there that they are keeping an eye on her !
And to leave this poor bird to die miserably in the publics view no less !!!!
If you really want to get someones attention in the store , start taking pictures .
Then when all the suits come flying out , tell them they need to take this bird to
a avian vet ASAP or you will have to turn in the pictures to the newspaper and
the ASPCA .......and you want to see the vet bill and the diagnosis.
If you don't mind me asking , where is this store located ?

If she's still there tomorrow you should report them, don't tell them that you are going to or they are liable to "get rid" of the poor thing.

the store is in oceanside NY by staples and khols. all the other animals are healthy but this one was not at all healthy. when i left he was walking on the floor a little. i just dont think these people know what they're doing and it makes me crazy! i wish i worked there, id pick it up in a heart beat! unfortunately im not allowed to take him/her. im gona go tomorrow and bring it up with the manager. some employees care, someone abandoned a ferret there and they were reslly upset and doted on him like a baby. the finch was so weak i thought it might have been a fledgling getting its bearings. im gona be up all night thinking about this. i will talk to them and print out a strongly worded letter!

no names but i do know we have avian vets around here, i just dont know the names. maybe i can get an opinion from a vet to present the store with.
