Bath time help needed!

My amazons like a misting bath. I set them on a perch in the bottom of the shower - sit down on the floor beside of them and use a lightweight bottle that I fill with water. I squirt the fine mist into the air above the parrots and let it drift down upon them.

The problem? It is very tiring to squeeze that handle time after time after time after time after time. . . . .I'm just thankful I only rescued 2 birds.

I don't want to use the regular shower - I was told to have the water sit for about 24 hours before bathing the birds.

So -do they make an automatic mister for our birds? Are they battery powered or some other way?

I have heard of letting the water sit for 24 hrs for aquariums, but not for birds showering. Did they give you a reason for the 24 hr wait? Just curious : )

We use a pump up type sprayer for Mac.

We got it from one of the Bird Supply places on line.

It has a feature to lock the trigger in place so it's a constant spray. It's a lot easier than when we used the pistol grip sprayer.

I have a shower perch in the shower and Kazi just gets the water out of the shower head. Sometimes he wants it pointed at the wall, but he really likes being able to get right under the stream too. I had to find the right setting though. And temp. He's picky

The 24hrs is to let the chlorine evaporate.Chlorine may or may not be an issue for your birds. When i had "city" water i would let it sit in an open container but didn;t worry about them bathing in it. If i had my bird on antibiotics i'd worry more about chlorine. if you put it in an open dish, then most will evaporate before the bird drinks it.If your using a water bottle then i would use nonchlorinated water.Healthy bird, don't sweat it, when giving bathes. A tip, on cage cleaning day,pull the paper and spray bird and cage outside, wet poo is so much easier to clean.And they so love the sunshine after a bath.

Interesting, thanks for the info henpecked. I knew that was the reason with fish , but not with birds. We are on well water here so that has never been an issue.
