So today when my hubby was about to make us some salads to go with our lunch, he realized that we had accidentally bought a head of cabbage instead of lettuce! Oops! Obviously, that won't make a very good salad! LOL. Cabbage makes my belly angry, and Lance doesn't like it. Anybody here feed cabbage to their birds? If so, how do you feed it? Is raw ok? I was thinking of offering some to them.

I haven't seen it on any lists. We just got a head of cabbage in our CSA share last week. But it's just the two of us here and much as we like to eat, we can't eat an entire head of cabbage! So there's still half of it in the fridge. I was going to try some with Kazi a few different ways to see if he preferred it at all.

ive given cabbage to pickle a few times.
he hates his leafy greens though, and will growl at them for covering up the rest of his food, before he throws it on the floor. XDD
but he has eaten it raw and boiled when we are eating it and he just has to have what we are having.

I begrudgingly give kale to Aizen, which is a form of cabbage. He loves the taste, I hate the smell; unfortunately he doesn't like Spring Greens quite as much. Of course not, they don't reek! ;)

We give cabbage to Merlin sometimes as we buy it in for Annie our rabbit. She goes crazy for cabbage. Merlin only really eats it because Annie is, otherwise I don't think he'd really bother. :)

Suggest you put it out for the wild critters. Deer love the stuff.

Good idea! I bet the two groundhogs that have decided to live under my back porch would like it too!

I give my canary and my green quaker small pieces of shreede cabbage which they both like. By the way shreeded cabbage is very god gently fried with some butter and olive oil. fried chooped onion, a few slices of fried cooked bacon chopped in one inch pieces. cook till cabbage is tender then add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. do not feed this to the birds. Alison and sweetie pie:D

I feed my birds raw shredded red cabbage, and they enjoy it. Birds have different tastes, though; it's possible yours will hate the stuff. The only way to find out is to give give them a sample!

I used to be able to eat cabbage (loved halushki!), but for some reason it has decided that it in no way, shape or form likes me anymore! I tried a few times, different ways, but nope... sadly, unless I want to be really sick, I can't have it anymore. :(

I now get severe reactions to many of my favourite foods, including tomatoes, banana and avocado... :(

Koreans live on Kimchi, fermented cabbage, and they may be the healthiest people in the world.

I've never had the chance to try it, but hear it is an acquired taste.
