hey guys, as some of you know i am re homing Oscar, my patigonian conure. My plan is to train him as best as i can untill i find a home for him. the amount of progress he makes in that time will determine if re homing is still the best option for him. I really think a avian consultant is my best option for training him. He has gotten worse and its difficult to train him on my own, and a consultant would really be able to help me get things moving and help him. if anyone knows an avian behavior consultant preferably in the new york (usa) area, but anywhere in the US will do. im looking for an active consultant who i can meet or talk on the phone with, not a dvd or book (but feel free to sugest ANY helpful info). I only want the best for him and this is the best plan for us now, so if you know anyone it would be tremendously appreciated! thank you!!!!

There was a fellow in NYC who had a "consultant" advise him on his CAG. He was on another forum. Want me to see if i can get a name?

Have you tried going to a bird specialty store for advice? I talk to the people that work at the bird stores for help. Most of the advice for an aggro bird was towel the bird and to train in a neutral room. This really worked for me.

There's a bird store in New Brunswick, NJ and the owner knows a lot. He helped me with my rescue the first day I got him. The rescue org I got my bird from recommended me to go there. PM if you are interested.

Hi Ann... I can help you with clicker training through emails....

I think your bird is probably the age that the breeder stated... He's starting to form words... That suggests the breeder didn't lie... Why would he?

I really think that clicker training would work for this bird, but he can't do it without you...

PM me if you want to go that way...

Good luck...

How old is he? Is he going through adolescence?

There is parrot rescue near me, and the lady that owns it seems pretty good at behavioral stuff. She or one of the staff might be able to give you some good advice.

henpecked: if you could get his name that would be amazing! thankyou!
conure girl: the store i went to told me to just pick him up, instead of letting him step up, he would without a doubt bite if i did that, but i will try toweling, thank you :0)
Lene- i know where your coming from, but he is definitely at least 3. His eye color proves it, up untill they are 3 they have brown eyes, after that they're eyes turn grey, his eyes are grey. We bel im also in the process of clicker training him, slow and steady :). thank you
Remy- He is an adult so i dont think thats it, but i will definately call that bird rescue!

I really want to make this work and im doing my best, but in the meantime i am looking for a new home.
