Well, we may be switching our parrot types! We have done a lot of online research in looking for our new parrot and have narrowed it down to a Cape Parrot or a Illiger Macaw.
We couldn't find any nearby breeders for a Cape, or any that would have a clutch anytime soon....so our next pick was an Illiger and as luck would have it, we knew a wonderful breeder for them who is nearby (and is the same breeder for our 6yr old Hahns who we love).
A Illiger clutch was born and there are 3 chicks so we were all set to soon meet our new baby.
While speaking w/ another birdy friend.....we learned of a breeder who just hatched a clutch of Cape Parrots!!!! They are also not too far away from us and come highly recommended.
So now, we are waiting to find out if any of the Cape chicks are males (females are considerably more expensive) and if so we will put our name on him.
We never thought we'd end up getting a Cape so we are VERY excited and can't wait to find out the verdict of the DNA. We should know by Friday.
