I am being told that my new bird needs a bath. He smells like cigarette smoke. However, he is barely able to be handled. How does one bathe and unwilling parrot?

then i think just keep misting him until he is able to be handled to have a shower :) im not sure that misting will get the smell off him, but that will fade in time..
also depending how big he is, can he have a little bird bath in his cage to have a play in?

Just mist him a little every day until he smells clean and then you can mist him 2 to 3 times a week unless you get the sense that he really want is more. It does not require a soaking, just damping his feathers. It will prompt him to preen which will help to clean the feathers.
