Since its getting pretty cold up here in New York I want to make sure my birdies don't turn into featherd Popsicles . I just orderd a thermo perch from dr fosters and smiths website. Do these work? I read the reviews and all of them are praises and stuff but have you had any problems with these? Are there any other ways to keep them warm? I might get a happy hut so they could snuggle with each over and make some body heat.

I have never used a thermo perch, but living north of Toronto it gets cold up her too :)
Until our furnace is turned on, I have a heater going in our bedroom, that shuts on and off automatically, then I'll be putting in a humidifier to add moisture into the air. btw, I've been to N.Y. and had a super time!

Thanks. My mom told me to do somthing because she has to leave the heating on when we go to school because she's worried the birdies will die from the cold. She said the price for heating is going up these days.

what temperature is optimum for parrots? (specifically a CAG)
Jake always seems to shiver, but we keep the house around 74 F.

I don't really know what temp my house is but I know that one of our fishes died when we went on a 2 day vacation in the winter the fish didn't have a heater. Last night my dad turned off the heating and it was FREEZING Downstairs, everybody thouthat the budgies died of hypothermia but they saw them snuggled with each over

Yes. Leave it on (plugged in they dont have on/off switches) nice thing about the thermo perch is if your bird doesnt want to use it they can just use a different perch. So no worries of over heating. They really are great!

if it's dry, for $16 u can pick up a warm air humidifier from one of the big stores (W, T, K etc.). The unit boils the water and then it evaporates it in to the air, you can see a little steamy air coming out and can feel the warmth. So it will ad warm and moist to the air for the birdies (and for u too).

One nice thing about the thermo perches also is that they really dont get very warm. Just enough for their lil feet. But honestly when you feel one warmed up you'll know what I mean. I know its a pain to return things but if you buy from Dr Foster and Smith website you can send it back if you dont like it. (Im sure other places do returns also)

I love dr foster and smiths polices, that's why I always get my birdie supplies from they're ,with my thermo perch order I also ordred a playgymes small enough for budgies and it's perfect ! Great prices too. I went on petco and it was 69 dollars! I got a play gym AND a thermo perch with that much money !
