I bought some new toys today, which I always steam. I got the steamer out(small handheld one) and filled it with water, plugged it in, and I pressed the button. Water ran out of the side and I have somehow managed to bust the seal on it. This is a quick question so would I be able to boil water in a cooker and use that steam instead? Thanks

Steam is steam, no matter what is used to make water boil to produce it. Boiling water in a kettle or pot may be a bit clumsy for your purposes, but it ought to work just as well.

Why do you steam the toys? And is it something you repeatedly do?

I steam the toys because you never know what they are exposed to at the pet store especially a store that contains other birds. I do it probably once a month to sanitize the toys and perches. It's just a precaution but I would highly recommend when purchasing toys from a pet store.
