Gosh that's sad. Having those parrots 24 and 17 years, you'd think they would of been aware of the dangers of self-cleaning ovens. It's amazing it hadn't happened before. I'll be glad when they outlaw the use of those coatings. You know they can't be good for people either. :(

I know it would be hard to get going, but we need people who sell birds to start providing a list of THINGS THAT WILL KILL YOUR BIRD: <<< if you get my drift..the list should contain the big no no's that people seem to not know...

Perhaps we should draft a list and start pushing it on pet stores that sell birds..

It sounds like a pain, but its a bigger pain that probably 100's if not 1000's of birds die needlessly each year because of uninformed owners...

Birds are more fragile than cats or dogs... we need to help them!!

I cant believe the crap that various pet stores have tried to push at me. I always ask about pellets, and Im repeatedly informed that parrots should eat seeds. I constantly point out dangerous toys, and the only response I get is rolled eyes. Pet stores dont care what happens once you take it home, as long as you pay to take it. You can only educate people who want to learn.

Here is the link to that thread. It is one of the stickies.

No, I mean a list.. and push to have it given to bird buyers...

Sort of like the book some hospitals give new moms with their babies... think of it as "how to take care of your new bird" a how to instruction manual for new owners...

Not a thread online.. because sadly, most owners won't look online for a problem with a bird. :(
