Like dragonwood, big stuff is harder to find and shipping crazy shaped branches is costly. Shipping is usually more than the perches for me. I try to cram as much as i can into a box but the big stuff cost to ship. Small bolt on perches that fit in flat rate boxes are no issue.

Henpecked is right about shipping.....depending on the ultimate size of the largest branch in a shipping box, lets say it is 4'x4'x4,' that size box should be able to handle 300-400 pounds, but with all of the empty space, it may weigh out at 200 pounds...then, because of the light weight, they may only be able to stack two of these boxes on top of each other, limiting cargo space by 1/2, so the freight charges are based on weight for space used, causing premium freight charges.....java branches come from old coffee trees.

Why not look at manzanita, it's hard & comes from the Southwest US & is cheaper.....

I dislike java wood and manzanita. They are both pretty, especially java which is beautiful, but are so slippery. Rosie has two manzanita branches, but they are older no longer slipper. I've tried new manzanita perches but she's always slipping and sometimes even falls off :( All that slipping around can give birds bumble foot.

They make perches out of bottle brush trees, it grows in Florida. It has a rough bark that birds love to chew off.

Whenever you have slippery, wood perches, get a sheet of 60 grit sandpaper ($0.40 - $1.00) & rough up the surface...problem solved.....

I love Bottlebrush perches. My babies love them even more. great to chew the bark off and easy climbing. I'd love to plant a few in my yard once I get settled.

The grapevine works great, you have to get it green and bend to the shape you want before it dries.

BRILLIANT!!!!!! :D

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my Java Trees. Yes, they weren't cheap, but I'd buy them all over again.

They are a BREEZE to clean, and all my fids have SO much fun on them.

Did I mention I LOVE them? :54:
