Hi all, I´m sorry to be asking so many questions. I have a breeder who has conures (sun, nanday and jenday) along with Senegals.

He recommended Senegals to us but as far as i am aware, they seem to bond to one person and not as "cuddly" and affectionate as the conures? That´s whay i´ve read from other peoples posts searching within the forum.

My fiance and I are looking for a fun loving parrot who will love games, cuddles (won´t be afraid of us touching him or get annoyed by it). The noise part really doesn´t bother us too much neither does the price.

Which would you recommend for a young couple?

Kind regards

Sarah.

Gilbert Oliver, Blue Crown Conure; Georgie, Sun Conure (2/8/01-8/8/12) RIP little girl; Percy, budgie 1993-1999. RIP Pepito-spanish timbrado canary
I love them both!! When i bought my sun conure, i 'wanted' a Senegal actually. In the end, i think each bird is different. If you kept in your mind you may want either and played with some of each, maybe your decision would be easier? I also was thinking of this when my sun conure died in the summer. I was again considering the senegal and then met a blue crown conure that i adored and have another conure.
My friend had a senegal (she is still in the family but not living with this friend but with someone who had more time to be with the bird 24/7) and this bird is WONDERFUL. What a sweet little girl, friendly to everyone. But she is less playful that my conure is.

I´m sorry to hear about your conure, that must be REALLY difficult to deal with.

I wouldn´t have the opportunity to play with both unfortunately as they have only really young babies. I guess it depends on how you raise them too? If you play with them a lot they are used to it? I really want an affectionate and loving parrot who loves kisses and also one who will bond with both of us.

I was quite surprised when the breeder told us the Senegals were more affectionate when i´ve always heard that conures were more affectionate.

When you say she isn´t as playfull, in which manner?

Thanks and take care

Hahn's macaw, RIP George, Jenday Conure
My Jenday was extremely affectionate. Loud, but affectionate. He would curl up in my hand and fall asleep. The only time he ever really bit me was the night he passed away from seizures. Not a real talker though. He would mumble a lot, especially when I was on the phone and he would mimic me talking.
