I have three Ekkies, one a talker, one not, but one WAS a talker and then just stopped.

It has been years and maybe once a year or every two years I have heard a "peek-a-boo" or a "bye-bye-bye-bye" and that was all. At the times I heard her talking I tried to encourage more and she would not talk again.

She is healthy--has recently been to the vet for a check-up and I did initially take her to the vet when it stopped so illness was not the problem. As best as I could figure, once my little male A. reached maturity and B. became a prolific talker-Tina stopped!

Has anyone had the same experience? Also does anyone have any ideas to get her talking again?

Many birds stop talking for various reasons.
Have you moved the cage, any new pets, perhaps your bird was frightened.
The list is endless......
Birds may stop talking if they becomes bored with their chatter, and hears only a few words from you.
Take time, sit with your bird, talk in a soft calming voice, assuring your bird everything is okay.

It is important to maintain a calm relaxed demeanor around your bird. They pick up on our moods and feel exactly what we are going through .

The thread below may assist you

Our male Ekkie talks up a storm all day, our female doesn't talk at all. We were told when we got her she used to talk but just stopped. If she starts again that's fine, if not that's fine too, she's a lovebug!

That's interesting that we have the same situation. My female is a lovebug too. She is very bonded to me and I love her no matter what, but really wonder WHY she stopped talking.

My male is a little chatterbox and goes on and on.

Antoinette, I'll check out your link thanks! I'm really hoping I can spark her to speak again. It has been a long time so, of course cages were moved, flooring changed, children grew up and moved out lol! I'm trying to spend extra time with her and really chat her up but looking for any new ideas i can try.

Sorry to tell you, same here! Rose no longer talks. She and I are very close and she will answer me with Eclectus sounds (mmmm, ahhh, etc) but no longer words. It happened when she matured. In our case there was no new bird introduced as I got LaFitte 3 months after I got Rose when they were both sold as newly weaned babies by their respective breeders. They began talking and said mostly the same stuff, but LaFitte always talked more than Rose. He continues to add new words now at 7 while she quit sometime during her third year, I think.

Their daughter, Lucy, who is now 4 does not talk but she can talk. I heard her a couple times and first thought it was another bird but found that she was the only bird in the area where the words came from. She has never cared about talking.

My two other females both talk, one more than the other. They are 12 and 14. The 14 year old talked quite a bit in a previous home where she was unhappy, believe it or not. Here, where I know she is happy as she has acquired a mate and well, I can just tell, she does not talk all that much. But she did talk when she was encouraging mating! Very funny.

I've heard of other female Eclectus who stopped talking when they hit sexual maturity, btw.

Oh dear. Well that's not sounding all that hopeful! I haven't given it a concentrated effort before since I love her talking or not, but thought I would give it a try. I'll still see if I can't get her going again, but it's not sounding too good. Ah, she said such fun things too and had a very electronic sounding voice.

Her previous home was very different but I have no idea whether she was happy there or not. She had been kept in an outside aviary for breeding for awhile and then in an accident the door was left open and both my girls lost their mates. They were then brought indoors. The woman that had them let them sleep on her chest at night and they wandered the floors with a large dog in the afternoons.
