We just spent an enjoyable afternoon with Mac's previous owner. She stopped by for a visit. It has been over a year since Mac has seen her. It was as if they had never seperated. Mac stuck to her like glue the whole time she was here.
1 nanday conure Black Jack, 1 Brotogeris parakeet Whiff, 1 ring neck dove Eliza, and 6 society finches (3 are tame). RIP my parent pairs of societies and my little gouldian finches
I never understood how long the bond lasts. After Hahnzel had been with us about 6 months I was going to bring him with me when i went to pick up food from his breeder. He told me absolutely not to do that. He explained that since he hand fed him and actively socialized him that there might be problems.
I think it's great as well to a point. My wife said that she is starting to feel like a foster home rather than the owner of Mac. It's been almost two years since we have adopted Mac. I don't want to hurt the previous owners feelings here, but sooner or later the connection needs to be severed. She is a very nice lady and anyone could tell that she loves Mac dearly. She told Mac upon departing that she would return to see him very soon. My wife even asked the previous owner if something happened would she be interested in getting Mac back, but she declined, not having enough time, not enough room in her new place......... I don't know, I'm stumped as to how to handle this.
