Hi
My Goffins Cockatoo is making moaning sounds. She seems to be Ok. But it is making me upset. She is at least 30 years old. She is afraid of strangers. I do not want to take her to the vet because it will traumatize her to much. What do you think?

Hey there Tony :)

If you truly feel your baby is moaning due to some sort of pain, I firmly believe you HAVE to take her to an avian vet, as none of us can do any diagnostics. None of my fids like to be poked and prodded by my avian vet, however, they DO get over it rather quickly. :)

Does the moaning sound like anything you or family members could have made? She could be mimicking something she heard, and if she is a rescue, she could have heard it from previous owners. But, I would go to the vet to rule out any sickness.
