To Adopt or not to Adopt?

I received a Facebook entry from my daughter. Someone sent her a mesage about a CAG up for adoption. It's a 6-yr old who owns a man who moved into a condo with no room for his owner. He's looking for a new pet human.

Not sure if fees are involved or not.

My quandry, as always, I have a burning desire to add another fid. But, I'm just startig to make headway with the FBA who currently owns me. (Not to mention the BOSS! Tomorrow is 34th anniversary)

Do I need encouragement to make the move or a sound beating followed by a firm NO?

The last thing I need is to take my relationship with Skittles to the other direction, but when I see a fid in need of a good home, the urge starts to surface and burns a hole in my brain.

(I can't help it, I like fids. And ... after all ... I'm just a weak human!)

My advice will be quite simple:

FOLLOW YOUR HEART and LISTEN TO YOUR GUT. :D

And if you're anything like me, where heart and gut don't always see eye to eye....well....then you're in trouble. :52:

Is there a way for skittles to meet the bird prior....like a play-date or something like that? Just to get a feel of the response you'll get.

I agree with Wendy- follow your heart and listen to your gut. Maybe you can meet the CAG to see if he even likes you, then maybe him and Skittles can meet- but I'd make sure both birds are free of any communicable diseases...
Just keep in mind, skittles will have to share you if you bring another fid home...do you think that might cause jealousy issues? Or would skittles be fine with sharing you? I know that Jackie would freak out if he had to share me with another fid, so I don't know if I'd ever be able to add another to my flock :(

Willie my B&G never cared if I spend time with other birds BUT when Lola came about, first week he was curious but didn't pay too much attention. But then all the jealousy started. So I place one on the play stand in front of me while the other on my arm. They don't like each other yet....Birds will learn to accept changes but sometimes they will show you they're displeased with the new comer. JoJo was VERY quiet for a year and a half while Java was here. The moment Java was gone, JoJo starts to talk once again. We miss his talking cause he say the funniest things....
