I haven't been posting for a short while. Between Mac's boot camp training and several medical procedures that I have had to endure over the past couple of weeks, It has been exhausting. But here is the story with Mac:

I have had several procedures done this past couple of weeks pertaining to my heart. Like I keep tellin the doc, it's bad and ain't getting no better so stop the blasted pocking and prodding. But he just won't listen. Plus, I have been trying for the past couple of months to get Mac back into shape with his feather destruction and it has been to where we have been staying up most if not all night with him and not able to go any where to keep him from abusing his feathers.

My wife has been getting exhausted over this as well and told me that we can't go on like this. The last straw for us was when I had a medical procedure done last week and she had to come with me. When we had gotten home Mac had chewed most of the new feathers up. So I found a lady in Ocala who used to work for Parrot Jungle in Miami and is retired and has worked with birds with issues before. She agreed to take Mac and try and work with him. She picked him up on Saturday. MY HEART IS BREAKING HERE I can't believe how much I miss him. So I just haven't been up to it as of late.

She will more than likely keep him if he flourishes there. I'm hoping she will be able to do what I couldn't do for the past two years. I'm not going to visit him while he's there because I don't want to confuse him. But I will get periodic updates on his condition.

Oh, I'm sorry about your health condition. I really feel for you with Mac, it's hard giving them up, but you know it's probably for the best. I hope that this lady can really help with Mac, he deserves to have a really good home where he can be healthy after his grief and such, it's just a shame that it wasn't to be with you :(.

From what I heard he was a real presence, it's no surprise he'll be missed. Keep us updated with the updates! Would be nice to hear how he's getting on.

Mike I am so sorry to hear this, It breaks my heart for you. I know how medical procedures and tests can really be time consuming and exhausting, and I will certainly keep your health in my prayers. I am sure your home seems empty without Mac to watch over constantly. You and your wife worked tirelessly to try to help Mac overcome this issue, and hopefully This woman will be able to solve his issue. I am sure you are beating yourself up over this, but don't, you did all you could and maybe Mac just needed a change of scenery. You did what you felt was right for Mac at this time.

Oh Mike, I am SO so sorry!!! :(

I think THE most important thing is your health. Without that nothing much matters. I hope you can make a full recovery, or as close to it as possible.

You must be besides yourself about your Macki. :( You did what you felt was best for him. Not that it helps any with the empty space in your heart. :( Many many hugs to you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm *so* sorry to read this, Mike! I can't imagine how you're feeling, but would like you to know I admire what you've done for Mac. Not everyone could do the selfless thing and allow him this chance. Bless your heart for that!

Sending prayers that your health improves quickly. I'm sure when you're feeling better, the whole situation will be easier to bear. Also, it may be that Mac can return to you after some time away? Don't give up hope! Hugs!

I'm sorry! It's hard missing them, even when you know you let them go for the right reasons. Hoping you get an update that he is doing better, and that your health improves as well. I'm sure it's all very discouraging with everything going on right now. Hoping for an improvement!

To give you an idea of how well Mac is being cared for. Here is a Picture I got this morning with the ladies son holding Mac in a towel right after his after his first bath with them yesterday. If that ain't love, I don't know what is. He's drying Mac off with a towel. I just let him drip dry. Mac was mesmerized by this young man when they came over for a visit. Mac wouldn't leave him even for me.:(

I hope they have good luck working with Mac! Sometimes, just being in a new environment with someone who has experience working with difficult birds is all that it requires. Of course, we must realize that Mac may never stop plucking and shredding his feathers, either. He may get better about it, but he may never fully stop, either.

I'm so sorry that it came to having to rehome him, but I hope he flourishes in his new home! Just know that you tried everything you could for him! And I hope we still get updates on him, progress and otherwise!

I'm so sorry that you're going through such a tough time. It's difficult enough being ill but then having to undergo unpleasant, costly procedures can make things even more exasperating.

I do hope that your health improves. You did your best with Mac. I cannot imagine how difficult it must have been for you to take that next step to try to help him with his feather destruction. You must miss him so very much. The young man holding him seems so attentive.

My prayers are with you. :64:

I'm so sorry for the hurt this must be causing you. By the looks of that gorgeous photo Mac is in amazingly capable and loving hands. You have made the hardest decision based on what is best for Mac, not on what you would want! Congratulations on having the strength to go through with this for Mac's sake. I will be praying for your health also.

You and he will both be in our prayers. That picture of him with the boy looks like two new forever friends in the making.

Now you take care of your poor battered heart for now, and give your wife a hug from me, too. Remember, a lesson my husband learned as a child was, if you scream and cry the nurse will get upset and won't give you the shot ... and doctors are busy and might be a long time before you actually have to have one!
