Thinking of bringing in a second bird

Cockatiels - Oz & Kaila
So, I've been considering bringing home a new bird eventually (maybe a few months from now) and have been doing some research on which species I could want.

The ones that I'm interested in are green cheek conure, blue capped conure, quaker, senegal and alexandrine.

I have to admit, I'm quite in love with african greys, but I don't think I'm ready to take care of one yet plus I'd rather wait until I,m completely finished with school before getting one which will be a few years from now. I've found a great breeder near me that breeds all of those. They offer DNA sexing, polyomavirus vaccination and tests for the 4 illnesses. The babies are abundantly weaned and hand raised (another breeder I,d found offered unweaned birds only and I refused that).

So, I'd love opinions from people who know about these birds or have experience with them! My only experience so far is with Oz, my cockatiel. Of course I'd also like for them to be able to be out of cage at the same time but that's not a must, I have time to interact with both separately.

I've heard a lot of good things about green cheeks. Although I own mostly larger birds. I've always wanted an Alexandrine because I think they are just beautiful. Hopefully owners of the birds you are looking into will chime in. Good luck with making your decision!

Thank you! I have to admit I'm kind of leaning towards the alexandrine at the moment but then again, I could end up with a completely different bird, no matter which breed I choose, the day I go to make a reservation after the birds hatch! It was kind of like this with Oz. I did want a cockatiel at the start, but once I saw his picture on the net, I had to meet him and when I did, I knew he was the one, if that makes sense at all =P I guess I'll know for sure when I get to see them, but I'd love to hear about people's experience with these breeds to help me make a decision!

Oh, here's the website of the breeder I'm considering! I've read pretty much all there was to read and they seem to really care about their birds =)

Oisellerie PLB Aviary: Poponnière

... And a little bit of Oz, just because.

Whatever bird you eventually end up being with is the bird that's meant for you! :)
