Why your adopted birds do some of their behaviors?

Louise will climb about, slide to the bottom of the cage and say hello. Then she waits. I'm pretty certain somewhere in her former life she must have had a four- legged companion that she associated with. She'll do that every time I let her out. She'll call hello a few times then return to the top of the cage, flexing her pupils angrily the entire way.

And obviously Barney (Thelma) knew somebody named Robert in her former home as she tells Robert to come here all the time. Not to mention she likes to hang upside down like a bat. She'll swing back and forth like that and laugh like a monkey.

And Louise will mumble every time I sit down to read the paper. As soon as I focus on the page she'll start mumbling. I wonder if she was owned by somebody who read to her or mumbled when reading?

So fun to think of what kind of life they may have had.

it is quite interesting to think about. My rescues say the darndest things.
And sadly, yesterday I reached over my Pi Talli and he screamed and ducked, and shook all over for several minutes. I think someone must have struck him at some point

Jackie used to say "hello Charlie!" or "hello chuck!" every time he saw me...Charlie was the previous owner's son; he actually met us at the house so we could pick up Jackie.

If he heard crying, he'd say "i'm sorry, please don't cry! IM SORRY!!"

Or "it's ok!!! It's alright!!" as he's pacing and fanning his tail and pinning his eyes...I learned quickly that "it's ok!" meant "BACK OFF!!"

Terry - that is so sad . Yes, sadly they didn't all learn funny things in their previous homes. My pterodaktyl is a total badass - ready to take on anything and anyone...until he sees a stick in someone's hand. Then he cowers He runs to the highest perch and hides in the corner behind a toy. It looks funny but it is so sad to think some bastard scared him like that

The only other behaviours he 'came with' is to say hallo (at any time he wants something) and byebye when anyone leaves the room. Oh, and the intense dislike of women. I suspect his dislike of women has everything to do with his fear of sticks because I was told his previous owner's wife 'couldn't stand him'.
