I was thinking about getting into breeding, but I think what I'd really like to do is find local breeders who just need some help in the hand rearing department.
I have a spare room, and I thought I could use it for baby birds and hand raising them.

I guess what i need to do is hook up with a local breeder who might be interested in letting me help with their babies ...or to sell them to me unweaned and I'll wean and sell.... something to that effect....

I still have a lot to think about, but this is my idea .... so...

Are there any upstate NY breeders here that would be interested in something like this?

Thank you

Good luck! I hope you find someone.

After visiting our Jade at the breeder's for months, I can appreciate what a huge job it is. It's a very good idea to work with a current breeder to get a better idea of what breeding means. Some babies need fed every 2 hrs round the clock then there's the incubators or warms nursery places - but not too warm.

There is so much involved in breeding birds I would not even attempt. Rosie's breeder is in Fla. and has been in the business of breeding African parrots all of her life. She has written many books and is well known. Her org. name is African Queen. Then some of the little ones are taken to hand feeders to finish the rest. My hand feeder has been doing the feeding of babies for over 30 years and knows what she is doing. I have had no problems with Rosie from the genetic and maturation point standpoing. Good luck with that Nat.

Thank you

I've done it a little, and really loved it. I don't want to jump into anything that is going to be too much for me. I do have a lot of time on my hands, and need something to keep me busy. lol ... This seemed like a nice step for me, if I can find something.
