I got the bird bug. I got it bad. I am now on the waiting list for an English Budgie. Everyone will think I am nuts in my family but I know you guys will understand. I am soooo excited!

My status on Facebook the other day was the title to this thread. And one of my friend's replied "We have one of those down my street! When you look in her living room window you see a line of bird cages." Maybe that person is here? LOL.

Haha we were just talking about this the other day... I've been looking into adopting a bare eyed cockatoo whose been rehomed 8 times and has a lot of issues. And we were laughing talking about how I'm a crazy bird person since I already have 7 and my mother has 2 of her own and I'm still thinking of adding another to the household....

Do you have a color you want or just the next one that comes up?

They should be getting babies in anywhere between 2 and 6 weeks. They said then send them home at 8 weeks. I am going to go in and pick one but I am kind of hoping for one that has some variation of blue.

LOL! I think a lot of those "persons" are here!
I think MOST people tend to know their personal limit, but how many you can eventually have really depends on factors such as: is it one single person taking care of multiple birds, or is there another person living there who shares in the birds? Full time job among other obligations away from home for long hours?
Finances? Space? Etc. determine whether YOU TOO will become "The Crazy Bird Lady" :D I agree it IS addictive and at some point we must cut ourselves off... :52:

Congrats on your new English Budgie coming soon. Don't worry, you're not near "crazy bird lady" status yet.... :)

Sadly, I think I passed that point at least 10 birds ago. Next they will be coming with the pretty white jacket, I fear:(

Hi Michele, my name is Terry and I am also a birdaholic.
My question for you is how hard is it to keep them under the bed? Do I need to build cages? Do you think I could also keep chickens under there? What a great idea:)

I could see myself becoming the neighborhood crazy bird lady. Most of my current neighbors know I have "talking birds" and no longer call the police if they hear "childlike voices calling for help" when I have my windows open.

My RFM is the largest parrot I ever lived with and he is the LOUDEST parrot. I know when spring comes it will be a challenge for my neighbors as his screams actually carry across the pond across the street from our homes.

I learned long ago that three parrots are my limit...but I was not living alone at the time. With living alone two parrots are pushing it for me because of the cage cleaning. I can't scrub cages like I use to anymore because of my health challenges. I would LOVE to get my Panama Amazon but because I have Julio (Lupe is not taking him because her new partner does not like animals in the house) and Valentino I am afraid I would not be able to take care of all three well enough.

LOL I may only have two parrots, but I'm for sure a bird crazy lady haha. I don't really want another parrot at the moment, two seems like such a great number when it comes to giving them one on one attention. But I REALLY REALLY want a red tailed hawk. My mom says no lol

Here I am with my friends passage red tailed hawk

Ohhh...I have always wanted a Harris hawk. For many many years. I know this would never happen as you need the license to house and have birds of prey and learn how to falcon and get that certification.

Now if I lived out in the country maybe I could make that happen but I live in a town house or rather row home as they are called out east. This would never happen here.

There is a red tail hawk family living across the street in the wooded area. I am scared to death to take Valentino out unless he is harness or in carrier. To teach him free flight in my area with the hawks would be too dangerous. *sigh*

Oh my friend has two Harris Hawks! A super sweet male and a huge aggressive female. They are so much fun! one of the smartest hawks, and really interactive when free flown.
