I'm stumped. What kind of bird is this?

Eta. No other colors besides green and grey.

How big is he/she? Looks like possibly one of the less common amazons called a mealy. Mealy's are BIG birds though, larger than the more common amazon species. Where is this bird? Wild, or did you find it/buy it/adopt it?

They look small to me. They are being rehomed on craigslist so it's just a curiosity thing for me because they don't look like the typical amazon. Here is another pic.

African Ringnecks. Smaller than Indian Ringnecks.

And one more. Maybe they are bigger than what I am imagining though.

African ringnecks don't have black beaks, do they? The close up I saw of the birds have dark black beaks

African Ringnecks have darker beaks than Indian Ringnecks. They look exactly like African Ringnecks to me.

I was also going to say African Ringneck. They aren't nearly as common here as The IRN. Maroon beak instead of red. Where's the long tail though? Poor quality pics, so it's hard to see.

It was the tail that got me too. It looks short and rounded, like an amazons, but they do appear to be smaller birds. Poor things. No wonder they are being rehomed. The owner does't even know what kind of parrot they are!

Those are such bad quality unclear pictures, but due to the short tail I'm gonna guess them to be Scaly Naped Amazon!

I don't think it's an amazon. All amazons (I believe) have a white eye ring. This one doesn't look like it does.

I second African ringneck, due to the black 'moustache', and dark beak. The short tail is a weird one though...

They look like they have completely lost their tail to me.

You aren't by chance thinking of adopting these adorable little guys are you ;)

I'm betting we could all identify them a bit easier if we had clearer pictures of them :54:

I wish I was closer to them and could go visit. I'm not against adopting one but am hesitant since I can't figure out the species. All they say is they are Amazons but they don't know what kind. Hmmm. Still not convinced it's a ring neck tho. Just because I don't really see that they have black beaks like these little ones (but they have that head shape for sure). I'll attach the close up they show. (The photographer in me is cringing at these images. Lol. I want a clear photo in a bad way). Thanks all for trying to help me. It's kinda driving me nuts.

The cere and beak still looks 'classic Ringneck' shaped to me.

I know... safe to say the owner is no photographer!

Here is a list with pictures of the different types of amazons. That beak does look like a ringneck, but look at the shape of the Hispaniolan's beak and the scaly naped amazons body (that super short tail) is really very close to these birds- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Amazon_parrots

For comparison, here are some african ring necks- ParrotFeather.com | African Ringnecks I know very little about ring necks, but I just can't make the jump from a deep red beak to a black/dark gray beak such as these mystery birds have.

Well, I guess they will remain a mystery. The owners are being less than helpful. Won't answer where they got them from. If they did in fact lose tail feathers, or why they want to rehome. :-(. Cute little buggars. They have me intrigued.

I had a Cuban Amazon, and all Amazon beaks are more laterally compressed with a grove running down each side. The feathers also look uniform in color (flat green), where as a Amazons typically have a defined scalloping to the feather edges.
