Hello, My name is Ralph and in about a month I'm going to adopt a Parrot. I am going to the bird show in november, and I'm thinking about a conure or a african grey. Can anyone here tell me what I might be able to purchase one for. I'm looking to spend no more than 500.00 on the bird I know I can get a conure for well under 500.00, as anyone been to a birdshow and what are there prices like? How much would I be able to get a grey for at a bird show??? This is my first parrot and I would be able to give lots of attention to it. I would appreciate any ideas ..

Hi Ralph and welcome to the Parrot Forums,

I'm assuming you are in the US??????

If thats the case then I can't help you with Bird Prices, not sure what birds go for over there. Here there is no way you could get a Grey for that Price. I wish there was.

If you do get one from a Bird Show, just make sure that you are able to get a health certificate with the bird. I know most bird shows in the US are very good, but its so easy for unscrupulous people to try to sell birds there, some wild caught, some with health issues.

Personally I love Greys so I would always say get Greys lol. Have never had Conures so can't say about them. I do wish you all the very best and please let us know how you get on, and when you get your bird we'd love to see some pics.
