If anyone is interested, I have a new travel cage coming today. It's quite different from this one, but super affordable. I'll let you know if its as good as the reviews say it is:

I bought that cage and I love it! I haven't replaced the dowel perch with a natural perch yet but working on it. I used it to transport Buddy to my mothers and he did great! I'm aiming to use this as his sleeping cage in the future on trips. However I got it for $22.00. I saw that some vendors were asking $40 and above, is that what or close to your findings?

1 1/4 " bar spacing seems like alot. Especially for conure size birds , heck even a amazon.

Buddy is a smaller amazon but since I bought it, it has been great for him, so far we have transported only in it, no stays longer than 6 hours. Looking at the spacing I don't think it's 1.25" spacing. It looks like .75" spacing. So I pose a question, can amazons flatten themselves like that? By "like that" my mental image is like a mouse flattening itself to .25". Please, tell me what you think.

I have mine set up now, the bars are 1" not 1-1/4". It is pretty slick and I think it will be nice for a bigger bird or even my dove (who has a fat body, like most pigeon type birds do) I put the GCC in there to play around and I'm pretty sure she could get herself between the bars if she really made an effort, but she's pretty petite. I think even a sun conure or above would work. They do have a smaller size too.

In the link it said bar spacing was 1 1/4' . The issue is not if they squeeze though, it's getting their head though the bars and spooking, resulting in neck injury or death. BTW i use 1/2 bar spacing on most of the amazon travel cages because they can't get to things outside their cage as easily. that is a nice looking travel cage.
