After waiting for almost a year I finally have my female Ruppell's baby!

She is very nervous after her long journey from California to Tennessee so she is just relaxing in her cage for now.

She is bigger than my Sennie, that surprised me for some reason. She is also more vocal, making lots of noises. She is gorgeous. Most of these pics are from the breeder before she shipped her. I don't want to overwhelm her now so I will post more photos later.

Here she is!

Home at last!

You can see how different her coloring is from Julie's Griffin. She has very little of the yellow he has.

Jaime she is so adorable!! Look at that face! :)

Wow Nova does look HUGE!! My Griffin is such a tiny little Ruppell's boy!

I'm so glad she's finally home with you now :) I know she'll settle in quickly. The long flight was probably a bit disorienting too. I'm excited for you!

Thanks everyone!

thekarens, I am not certain but just based on my Sennie's weight I would guess between 130 and 150 grams.

130-150?!! whoa. Really? That much bigger huh...

I just weighed Griffin (boy Ruppell's) and he's only about 113g!

* That's interesting how variable they are, not only in baby color but size too. Jaime and I got our babies from the same breeder, but different parent birds.

I've read how certain people say Ruppell's are larger than other small Poi's , then other places I read say they're smaller than the other small Poi's. Maybe this is why?! Lots of variation in this species?

Yeah, just a guess but my Sennie weighs 116, I think. And Nova is quite a bit bigger. More broad.

Nova is gorgeous, and what a big girl! I can only imagine how excited you are, having waited so long:) I had never even heard of one before you and Julie, and am so excited to watch Nova and Griffin grow up. Congratulations!

Thank you!

Nova is settling in a bit more. She is playing with her toys and eating, exploring her surroundings more. She is a clumsy baby though! Poor girl falls a lot. It is so much fun watching her exploe and play.
