My husband went to the farmer's market to pick up a piece of stainless steel wall art I had ordered the previous week. I wanted to go but am sick, sick with a bad cold. While there, I asked my husband to inquire whether the man would be interested in making a custom stainless-steel, wall-mounted parrot stand with poop tray. I have this idea that I think would be affordable to make, very versatile regarding perch size, and allow me to put more stands in each room without sacrificing floor space. I have no idea if it will actually work yet, but before spending hours making a cardboard mockup, I wanted to know if the guy was on board to make them. Good news: He is!

Anyway, when my husband returned he brought me a yummy blackberry lemonade. As we discussed why there are so few wall-mounted parrot stand options on the market, I was hunched over in bed with the drink in one hand and a pen in the other, making sketches of the stand. Trying to understand why we can't find more wall-mounted parrot stands in stores, my husband says, "I don't think drilling holes in the wall would matter. Shouldn't matter, all you bird people are crazy." (Says the man cupping a sleeping bird to his chest.)

 Surprised I replied, "WE'RE all crazy?" and then bent over to sip my drink. Immediately I realized my mistake, but couldn't react before my husband dryly and with a straight face says: "You're sucking on your pen...Case in point." And I was. Well, not actually sucking, but I had mistaken the pen for my straw and put it in my mouth before realizing. :30: ROFLMAO. I laughed so hard I cried, and even typing this I laughed again until I cried. Oh it was so very funny, I had to share.

Won't comment on mistaking the pen for a straw;) but I think a wall-mounted stand is an EXCELLENT idea. Just be sure you have proper mounting hardware, but I'm sure your bird will love it (and you won't knock into it like a floor stand:)) You'll have to share pics once this is finished!

Oh my, I wish I had not just taken a drink of coffee before reading that! I wish I could count how many times I have done something like that!
Did your husband crack up at all?
A wall mounted stand sounds like an awesome idea, and I also can't wait to see pictures once it is complete:)

Mmmm, that blackberry lemonade sure sounds good, sans the pen straw! lol! Sounds like there is a need for this product, specially for people who have small houses. Keep us posted on it, can't wait to see the pics!

SORRY! LOL. He smiled and chuckled a little when I couldn't stop laughing, but I wouldn't say he "cracked up" like me. We compliment each other well. I'm the more expressive, giggling, knee-slapping, hand-waving type. He's more dry wit and straight-faced puns. I wish I could pull off his humor. He says he wishes he had my "energetic expressiveness" (his words for crazy). :)

If the stand works I'll absolutely post pictures. Some of my ideas work great. The rest become interesting conversation points. *Fingers crossed* :09:

Sounds like something my husband would say lol. But hey, you have an excuse...you weren't feeling well. A wall perch sounds awesome! I've though about those and maybe putting one in every room so Ducati has a place in every room other than our heads lol. Maybe like the shower perches that swivel so you can push it out the way when it's not being used? Hmmmm.....

Can't wait to see pics of it when you have it up!

i saw a wall mount playground at my local pet shop for 200 dollars! Kind of a rip off, you can buy the same thing on Amazon for 50 i believe

But I cant wait to hear more about this project, very excited!

The problem with a wall mounted play stand (at least in my house) is that the birds would chew on the walls. I've found all 3 of mine chewing on paint at one time or another (or trying to) which of course led to pulling the cages out further from the walls.

I thought of that to. I think it's a great space saving idea for individual birds who are not attracted to the walls.
So much to consider when thinking of new 'products' for birds. Ps... I have an 'invention' that has seriously been in my mind for the past year. I'm not going to mention it now, but having a hard time coming up with a practical design and what materials to use.

That is a real concern. I can put PB on my windowsill and not worry at all about her chewing the wood or the wall. However, I have no idea what Fozzie will do when he comes home. He may very well be the exact opposite. I've heard some people have had success hanging plexiglass or...booger, I can't remember the name of the other clear material. (Sorry, too much cold medicine.) The idea is to keep them from getting to the area they want to chew on. So that is something I can try placing behind the stand if chewing is a problem with Fozzie. I'm trying to mitigate the issue as much as possible through design, but it seems no plan is foolproof with these fids. PB always seems to find something I missed.

Neat idea! Us bird people don't care about holes in the wall! Although eating the wall might be a problem.
