Naughty parrot stories!

So, as not to totally derail another fun thread I thought I would start a thread to share your funniest "naughty parrot" stories I'll start-

Since Kiwi is actually a rather good boy and has never really done anything that sticks out in my mind as being a *super* naughty bird, I'll tell the tale of Alfie the burglar goffin instead This was years ago, and my mom had bought Alfie a new cage where the panels "snapped" together rather than screwed together (yes, it was a very poorly designed cage). My mom and I were visiting family out of state and my dad decided to go out fishing. He locked up Alfie and since the zons don't bother locks, they just get a caribener (?spelling) clip on their cages. Well, when he came home a few hours later, he found the amazons loose, the house was in disarray and Alfie was "missing". He thought he'd been burglarized until he found Alfie in the bedroom looking like he knew he'd done wrong. As he pieced together what happened, he looked for how Alfie got out (the cage was still padlocked) and found he had PUSHED UP the top panel of his cage and escaped through the gap. After letting out the amazons, he went on a rampage of destruction. He had throw a weeks worth of mail all over the floor and anything else he could possibly fling (small decorations, couch pillows, shredded a plant ext...), and turned on ALL the burners on the stove then ripped off the knobs. It was actually pretty lucky it was an electric stove because he could have caught the house on fire and/or killed all the birds had it been gas Needless to say, that cage was padlocked shut on 6 sides until it could be replaced!

It's a good reminder why you should be sure a cage is safe for your bird as an individual. I'm sure some could have lived in that for years with 0 issues, but others need a fort knox style cage Even competent owners cannot account for everything a bird could get into trouble with.

So no one else has any funny stories about what their birds have gotten up to?

Wow Alfie! That's incredible. Leave it up to a Cockatoo or Macaw!

I guess if anyone I have now is naughty, it would have to be little Griffin :16:. Actually it's Raven who's complaining... When Griffin is out, he goes immediately over to his neighbor Raven's house and pushes him out of the way, eats his food, plays with all of his toys :52: He's gotten more and more obnoxious about it. Nowdays he uses absolutely everything of Raven's, and he won't "go home" unless I put him there. He has tons of toys and swings on the top and outside of his own home, but he doesn't like hanging out there. It's so bad I usually see Raven waiting by his OWN food bowl until "someone" finishes haha. Occasionally Griffin will let Raven share lol. When they bicker, even when Griffin starts it, that's when Raven really lays into him (gets him back) and I have to remove Griffin so he doesn't get hurt.

My girl isn't naughty, but I have a houdini story (not really houdini, just a braindead owner).....

I walked into the other room to find the cage open and she was GONE. It was awful. I called her name and she didn't reply. I was sure that my dog had eaten her. Then I saw her sitting quietly up on top of the filing cabinet. Big Phew. I'd opened up to let her out and then forgotten I'd done it. She didn't get up to anything, she just sat there, but I had a year's worth of heart attacks that day.

Her latest "thing" is to hang on tight when I put her in her cage. She puts one leg down and then she grabs me tight with the other.

Years ago I kept a Cockatoo for a man who went overseas for 6 months. Sally Sue (well, this IS the South) was a stunning bird. She changed the entire atmosphere of the house when she arrived. She loved people and loved to put a on a show. However, she hated the farm cats. While the cats were not allowed in the house, she loved to tease them. She'd roost on the back of the couch and look out the window. If a cat happened by she would get its attention it by hissing at it. The cat would stop to investigate. Using her beak, Sally Sue would tap on the glass, and wave her head back and forth. When the cat would move in closer, Sally Sue would hide behind the curtain, make distressed bird noises and peek at the cat. She'd keep this up until the cat would jump in frustration and crash against the window. Of course this was Sally Sue's goal.

Sometimes she'd get the cat to the window only to jump out from behind curtain and shriek in a manner of a Cockatoo. Terrified the cat would fall over backward and run off.


I wonder if wild Cockatoos teased predators?

Jack has developed a a constant 'naughty' behavior where he will climb over to me when I am putting on make up, tip over the mascara bottle and attack it, chewing it and even knocking it off the table! He also once chewed up the contact information for his bird-sitter!

Sassy hasn't really been "naughty" lately. But the other night she flew in to me on the couch, one of my cats was sleeping on the back of it. Sassy landed on the back and I could tell by her body language what she was going to do..lol. So I reached up to nudge the cat off, the cat looked at Sassy, stretched, and slowly began to leave the couch (had to make it look like it was her own idea)...and Sassy ran over and bit the end of the cats tail..:11:. Obviously not hard as the cat didn't even acknowledge it:54:.

And Cisco just hasn't really been naughty. There was the time he pinched my granddaughters cheek (after I told her he wouldn't bite, and it wouldn't hurt if he did) Turns out she had ice cream on her cheek...and it did hurt.
