Quietest and loudest bird you own?

What is the most noisy bird you own and what is the most quiet bird you own? In terms of how loud they scream and how often they scream.

The quietest bird here is probably Damien (Ringneck), but Merle (Blue Crowned Conure) is pretty quiet too, so it's hard to say exactly who is the quieter one out of the two.
Merle has a louder scream, Damien has a more high pitched scream, both scream as often as each other (I think Merle does it slightly more often than Damien though).
They don't really scream when people aren't there.
Damien hasn't ever had a screaming fit, he just makes a few high pitched noises sometimes.

Loudest (in terms of how often) bird here is Cookie (Green Cheek Conure) currently. She has started screaming fits pretty often, mostly in the mornings, but throughout the day too for some reason. I don't know why she's so loud suddenly.

Bird with the loudest volume is Norman (African Grey). He has a horrible scream that he likes to do pretty often, and it is by far the worst of all the birds. He often gets Erik (Sun Conure) to start screaming too.

I was bored and curious so I decided I would make a random thread.

Loudest, are my conures, white-eared and green cheek. One goes off, then the other goes off, then pascal makes one quick sound as if to say "hush!".

Even at the loudest he's ever been, he's never out-sounded my conures. Considering he shared a cage with a sun conure for 4 years before me, I'm very surprised by that.

My U2 can stop traffic three streets away when he gets his feathers in a twist, no surprise there, but thankfully he rarely yells at full volume. I love his indoor voice and the crazy noises he makes.

My cockatiel is pretty quiet, she has a high pitched pretty voice.

My female quaker is a very noisy bird. She talks a lot and demands to be heard. My male quaker has a soft whispery voice but that may be because of an accident he had before he came to live with us.

My budgies get loud when the other birds get loud, but even at full volume they can't really compete.

My female quaker makes a lot of noises and my U2 and my male quaker imitate her. They cry, they quack, they bark, they meow, they beep. The bird room sounds pretty crazy sometimes. My female quaker makes a noise like an electric drill, very realistic and very loud, my male quaker just learned to make his own drill noise but he has a much quieter drill.

Loudest is Bazzle the Sulphur Too for sure!!! Stephen is probably the quietest but although Larry constantly has something to say he isn't all that loud either really. They all have their moments.

I have some species who are known to be quiet birds, and it is pretty true

Loudest in volume is Raven, Bronze Winged Pionus. Still, when comparing to "most" parrot species his scream isn't considered loud. He usually doesn't scream, but is pretty vocal with talking and low volume quacks, squeaks, clucks, etc.

Noisiest as far as how often, is Budgie Twigs. It seems like there is almost always a noise coming out of his mouth! Male Budgies not only do a pleasant twittering singing, but Twigs also has awful screaming fits! He can get loud enough where you can't hear the tv or talk. I'm always surprised what a loud volume can come from such a small bird. :52: He can be obnoxious and irritating, but I love the little guy.

The Poicephalus guys, Red Bellied and Ruppell's parrot aren't even capable of going real loud. Opposite of the Budgie, they're not very loud in volume for their size. They can make a high pitch whistle which can be a little piercing, but still it's a "whistle" not a scream. Usually talking, mimicking sounds, or low volume natural noises and chirps. Robin the Red Bellied makes noises more often than Griffin the Ruppell's.

I have to say, that FOR THEIR SIZE, Pionus and Poicephalus species really are quiet birds. They don't have the volume as compared to other parrots their size or even smaller. Thank goodness because they're all in an 11'x18' room.

All of my birds are fairly quiet. When they are vocal I would say my Maxi Pi is the loudest, but one of my cockatiels can get pretty loud if she wants to. My Ruppell's is pretty chatty, but not very loud. And my Senegal is the quietest. She hardly ever makes noise and when she does it is very quiet.

Hmmm...that's a toss up with my two. Cisco definitely has a higher pitched screech, especially if he's on my shoulder and screeching in my ear! Sassy is loud, of course. Luckily they don't scream too often. I live out in the middle of nowhere and can't even see my neighbors houses so noise is not an issue. I'd say it's about a tie with mine.

Quietest is my Blue-Fronted Amazon, almost never screams but is very talkative. Current loudest is a Moluccan, particularly at sundown.

Honorable mention for the most irritating tonal quality were the Sun Conures my mom had many years ago.

The loudest in volume is definitely Ekko, the ekkie. Thankfully he doesn't scream often.
The loudest that screams a lot is Talli, my Blue headed Pi...he can scream for an hour or more at a time, and it is piercing.
Dexter and Slater, my YCA and OWA, are loud in different ways. Dex is loud in volume, and Slate has this high pitched scream he does that sounds like a cricket on steroids.

Darwin, the HH, makes this super high pitched whistle like scream that hurts my ears.

My quietest are Phoe, the CBC, Pisces, the WCP, and surprisingly Ki and Cally, my RLA and DYH.

My BTM is the loudest as far as volume, but the fact of the matter is my linnies chatter 24/7. My sennies are very quiet.

My sun conure.. is deafening. And he loves, loves, loves to scream. Then when he gets going the green cheek starts squawking with him (but she doesn't get very loud, and almost has a throaty-scratchy scream). The sun's scream could peel paint off the walls and if you're too close to him, your ears ring and then sound fades out for a few seconds. I expect to have permanent hearing loss soon

My eclectus -can- be loud, but rarely gets so. Even when he is loud (he is probably louder decibel wise if he wants to be?), it doesn't annoy me in the same way as the sun. It's a much deeper loud.

I love our sun conure. He's the funniest of the birds and it melts my heart when he lays on your neck and falls asleep, but I may have re-thought him if I'd known exactly how bad that screech was going to be. I wouldn't go back in time and trade him because I love him so much, but I'd never get another.

My flock doesn't really scream much.

Technically, my loudest bird by far is my Greenwing... in that she has the ability to shatter glass two blocks over when she goes off...

However, she goes off less than once per week, and less than 30 seconds at a time, so my loudest bird is actually my quietest.

My most consistently loud bird is my RFM, particularly at mealtimes, or when it's her turn to get held and you're taking too long... but that's not really screaming.

Both amazons do the flock alarm call if there is something in the area that upsets them, and my neighbors' know it...

In fact, if there is someone in the neighborhood that Lila feels does not belong there, and she is outside in the tree, the entire neighborhood knows it. Other than that, there is rarely a peep out of that bird. So, overall she is my quietest.

My CAG amuses himself by talking. So in terms of making noise, he is the most consistent, but it's the quietest and most entertaining noises...

I've dealt with my fair share of screamers. The key is teaching them NOT TO. Then this isn't really an issue. Structured interaction is the key to attention screaming.

My birds don't scream at all for which I am thankful. I have never heard it even once.
Larry, my green cheek, goes to his perch and sometimes starts chattering when we sit down to eat, but it isn't annoying and we like it. He usually stops after a couple of minutes. He starts speaking portuguese quietly in my ear sometimes when he is on my shoulder hehehe.
Norman, my canary, sings beautifully off & on and occasionally 'beeps' when he's hopping around, and we like that too.
Just lucky I guess, after hearing about some of these louder green cheeks.
We have a pretty quiet environment out in the boonies with no neighbors close-by and no other pets other than goldfish, and no children around making a ruckus.

My loudest and most vocal bird is my cockatiel, which is strange considering I live with a conure and cockatoo. He spends most of his day singing/screeching loudly.

My green cheek conure is quiet most of the time except for her little duck noises. She starts getting noisy if there is water running or if I'm vacuuming. She'll also sound the alarm if something spooks her, but that's about it.

So far Merlin the galah is my quietest bird. He squeals happily for about 2-3 seconds, twice a day. He is quite loud when he does vocalize, however.

I would have to say both my birds are quiet in comparison to what I have heard, but Shiko is definitely an attention seeker so he'll sound off whenever he wants attention. Unfortunately for him it's counter productive, and whenever he screams we simply walk away from him. Avery is only loud when something spooks her and she does her warning call, but even then it could never compare to a sound off from a large cockatoo or macaw. The first time I heard a macaw go off in person I jumped and nearly screamed it startled me so badly, haha!

Loudest by noise is def my Hahns with my IRN in a close 2nd but they don't make noise nearly as much as my plum heads. The plums will have screaming fits from time to time and like to chirp themselves to sleep sometimes as well.

Oliver, a male Eclectus, is mostly a talker and singer...and on occasion will let out a squawk or two and once a night a thirty second high pitch scream, but all in all, he is not a loud bird. Now my Cockatiel, who is now passed, was very, very loud throughout the day for 23 years!

Our corella, would easily be the noisiest in terms of volume, and frequency of screams. The eccy family are also quite noisy, when on the verandah. The plumhead Jade has the greatest volume in terms of Db/gram Our budgy George vocalises the most, with his own budgy vocabulary, talking and copying all the other birds, but thankfully his volume level is quite low. The Princess, Kermit, also has some volume. The quietest birds in our flock are the 'tiels.
