Things that annoy Dani:
-Mosquitoes
-pimples
-people who think "oh, my parrot is mean to everyone/isn't tame/screams/plucks/makes too much of a mess, so I don't like it. I am going to get a different parrot, and either sacrifice this one to the fires of Craigslist or keep it and neglect it while I play with my new toy parrot who will magically be perfect all the time." Bonus points for: "And my new bird will be a cockatoo!"

It's just a pity the bird, and your neighbors had to come along with you.

Haha, yes, you sound like my kind of "meany-head" as my brother would put it. Ugh, yeah, I am part of a "parrots...Questions and Answers" group on facebook. Someone has a CAG that attacks everyone, so they want a cockatoo... But they want to know, is it loud????

Ugh. Hate those types. Knew a family *JUST* like that. They went through pets of all varieties like water. Impulse purchased ALL of them (at least one a year), yet when the animal did something "bad" (usually as a result of THEIR inability to provide proper care/training, or it just being an animal), it was either sold or destroyed (or in the case of their long-time pet pot bellied pig, who had an accident in the house because they didn't let it out, taken to the butcher). The had a conure (or conure sized bird, they didn't have it very long so I don't remember exact species), that I never saw out of the cage, cage was too small, dirty and no toys/perches besides the dowel that came in it. They wondered why the bird was mean and screamed all the time (they had met my parents happy and well adjusted birds and thought that happened by magic) and, mercifully for the bird, eventually sold it....

Mhm, I had a friend who did that with several dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, they even had a fish that had babies so they flushed them one or two at a time as they grew and crowded the cage. Oh yeah, they also serial-rehomed HORSES.

someone asking where in NYC he can get a young IRN, and saying someone he knows got one that the breeder says will "come out male" based on the shape of the head. He wants to know if it is already male right now. I could not make this stuff up if I tried.

And you know what? I am not trying to make fun of these people, I simply am SO FRUSTRATED with people for not researching and understanding a pet before they get it, or at the very least AS SOON AS it "accidentally" comes to them. Also, COME ON BREEDERS! Those babies are YOUR responsibility. Do not send babies home with clueless people! UUUUUGGGHHHHHHHHHH.

In the last few days I have just been exposed to SO. MUCH. PAIN. caused simply by lack of education and understanding. I know I am preaching to the choir here.

That's really sad. :( It's not the animal's fault that the owners don't know how to care for them.

There's someone on the German Shepherd Forum that does that.
She was willing to get rid of, or trade her six month old fawn German Shepherd for a black and tan German Shepherd puppy. Just because she wanted a black and tan instead of a fawn.
It's sickening.

 I remember when you told that story before, and I can't get over that!! and they acted like it was no big deal! It wasn't an animal they raised for meat, it was their pet!!!

Oh my gosh - two new ones for the day: Someone who thinks you can sex CAGs by seeing a picture of their tails. Oh wait, did I say someone? I mean someone posted the pic asking the sex and A BUNCH OF PEOPLE ARE INSISTING IT IS MALE BASED ON A PICTURE OF THE TAIL. Not even the pelvis, the tail.

Second, someone asking where in NYC he can get a young IRN, and saying someone he knows got one that the breeder says will "come out male" based on the shape of the head. He wants to know if it is already male right now. I could not make this stuff up if I tried.

Actually sexing by tail is not unknown, but I wouldn't depend on it.

That is simply disgusting and inhumane... Were they planning on eating it...? :( If so, I'm pretty sure that pot bellied pigs are mostly fluid, and so aren't all that great to butcher.. What a sickening waste of a life...

"My bird isn't tame!"

Hahaha, my bird isn't tame, but that's okay. We don't have to be cuddlebutts, we can just enjoy each other's silly company. You're awesome, Cream~ (he is getting more tame as time goes on though lol)

I think people are too obsessed with having a bird that doesn't exist yet!

I have never really been around them as pets, but to me they are a great example of a pet that is stinkin cute as a baby and grows up to be less than attractive as a pet. I hear they are really smart, buuuuuut I'm not having a swine live in my house - I have a husband, and that's enough!

Haha that made me laugh. I often times go on craigslist and find the worse reasons to rehome animals. When I got Rocky I found him on craigslist for free but then the lady selling him, she only had him for one month, wanted $75 for him so I paid her and took him home. 4 hours later she calls me back asking me to bring him back because she didn't think I would provide a good enough home for him and there were other people who would pay more for him. I have had Rocky for 2 years now and he is one of the most loyal dogs I have ever met. Probably because he has a stable home and knows whose in charge and it aint him. Not to mention she told me when I left that there was a possibity of him having a UTI but didn't want to take him to the vets. One frustration is being told an animal is healthy and they clearly are not like my grandmothers kittens she got last week. I was told they were litterbox trained, had no fleas, were healthy. The moment I went to meet the people to get them the woman lifted the little one up and she was COVERED in fleas and is soooo underweight when you pet her you can feel EVERY disc in her spine it's disgusting not to mention they have ear mites. In the past week I have given them 3 flea baths then yesterday before my accident I went by after work because everything but my birdcage had arrived and since my normal helper was sick (my 7 year old niece normally helps me) I had to enlist another helper who was far worse and I was finally like why is a 7 year old better at this than you. Anyways they got a flea bath (and dried), vaccinated, first dose of dewormer and flea meds. Then about 2 hours after my accident the people I got the kittens from asked me how they were doing and I told her fluffy isn't using the litter box and never has but was just in a car accident could I talk to her tomorrow and she was like yeah thats fine. Then texted me back and was like if your not happy with them we will take them both back. I literally turned off my phone theres no NO WAY I'd send them back to that hell whole because I know without a doubt they would only get worse.

I have a new annoying thing to add to the list: people who ask for your advice, listen to you explain how NOT to get into heaps of trouble, ignore everything you have told them, get themselves into lots of trouble, and hen want hours and hours and hours of your time as you try to dig them OUT of the trouble that you warned them not to get into in the first place! And somehow they maintain that there was no way they could have seen this trouble coming in the first place!

Speaking of excuses. This one really bothers me.

"I Have a 3 yr. old Blue & Gold Macaw & Cage an all his food , He is super friendly , an Talks a lot , Summer time I would take him Down town an Let everyone hold him even kids , little ones - some people are scared of him cause he is big.
I love this bird to death But , I want to buy a motorcycle ."

So, you obviously don't "love the bird to death."
SMH.

I really can't stand it when people think of their pets as objects you can just pass around like it's no big deal! Ugh.
