The burdys are all doing pretty well =D Stephen doesnt love Larry but they dont hate each other which is good right? Larry is looking so much better. He was covered in pin feathers in the middle of a major molt when i got him and his color was quite dull. Larry is a bit of an odd ball and we think "he" might be a "she". Bazzle is just being Bazzle... Loud. But I finally discovered a toy that she enjoys... Willow wreaths! They dont last long but she enjoys them and they are easy to make =D Meanwhile, its spring and we have babies everywhere!! Foals, lambs, ducklings, baby pukekos, baby turkeys, cuteness overload =D

Here are some pics from various stages over the past few months =D

Stephen getting into the lolly jar =D

And just a couple of toys I have made

And this is me at work during winter! Thank gods summer is well and truly on its way!

How dense am I? I never knew about your Quaker or your SC either!
Your birdies are gorgeous and look so happy and healthy. Do they all get on as well as they appear to in the pics? :)

Our Australian summer is just gearing up as well. We had our first hot day today - 38ºC - bleargh! The only good thing about summer is that you earn your winter at the end of it!

I never knew you had a blue Quaker! Did I miss it?! The blue ones are so pretty.
Beautiful cockatoo. We don't see the Greaters as much here in US. I remember you said Bazzle belongs to your bf? Of course Stephen is gorgeous. I love the striking yellow eyes. Both my Poi's have red.

Gorgeous birdies! And gorgeous momma, too! Those bird toys are phenomenal. I so badly want to make my own toys, but I feel like if I made my own and my birds saw what other members made, they'd feel a bit shafted :p I really love the millet toy idea, too. I'll definitely have to try that one day :)

Right so I did make a post about getting larry but it was at a time that I wasn't hugely active so it probably got lost quite quickly. For those of you who missed it... I saw Larry advertised on our kiwi equivalent of Craigslist really cheap. Before I got Stephen I nearly brought a hand raised baby from a breeder but they aren't cheap for what they are and I ended up getting stephen anyway. Everything fell into place quite easily and I ended up owning a little blue quaker. He hasn't been dna sexed and we think he may be a she though force of habit has me still calling him a him =) coming up 2 yo he prefers Luke over me although he is pretty harmless and not nasty, he just lacked handling as his previous owners didn't have the time for him. He has been super easy and hasn't caused any issues. His wings have been hacked off and I think they have been for most of his life as I am yet to see him attempt to fly. Strange little guy and I'm not sure what to make of some of his behavior but he seems happy enough? I brought him a cage 10x bigger than his old one and he has heaps of room. He came from having dowel and plastic round perches to some pretty cool natural ones I have made and rope although I left him one dowel perch as a comfort kind of thing.

Dinosrawr, thanks about the toys =) they don't always turn out so well though. When I'm lacking inspiration, patience or any creativity they just sort of get thrown together and they can look a bit like a toddler made them at preschool haha but it's something I guess. The pretty ones I make that I'm really proud of and spend a lot of time on always get destroyed so quickly =( the rough ones get played with but seem to last longer so I can be reminded of how awful they look haha
