Bad news :(

I am so sad and with a heavy heart have to say we will be getting rid of Sonic and a few other pets due to family health problems. I will probably not be attending the forum for a while, I will be busy taking care of my mother. Cancer is so hard to deal with, but I will have Lilo and she will comfort me in this time of pain. I'm so sorry to hear this. Cancer is devastating, not only for those who have it but for everyone who loves them. Have you considered a support group, they aren't right for everyone but sometimes it's nice to talk with those who understand.

I'm sorry you had to make such a hard decision about your pets, I hope you find good homes for them. I'm glad you are keeping Lilo. Hugs and best wishes to you and your family.

I wish I could hug you and tell you it will be alright. I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I know how dedicated you are to sonic, and I just want to say GOOD FOR YOU for helping him work through his challenges. Sometimes we want to be the forever home, but we are really just getting our babies ready for the next good home. The work you have done with him will protect him as he moves on, because he has learned how to better interact with humans. I will be praying for your family. I am so sorry to hear your bad news. I know in what place you are mentally and emotionally. Both my parents had cancer and I took care of them in my home until the end. You will have many questions; ask your health-care workers, ask me. Unfortunately I will know just about all the answers. I wish you courage and patience. Can someone care for your pets? I'm too far away or I would. It would be nice if you could get them back! Hugs. Many.

I am so very sorry for what you are going through. My father had cancer, and I know how difficult it is watching a loved one go through that struggle. The fact that you are there for your mother and doing all you can to help her through this will likely do more to bolster her resolve than even you realize. So much of the success in fighting cancer comes from the patient's state of mind, and it's easier to fight hard when you know you're not doing so alone.

I'm sorry you're faced with rehoming some of your pets, but under the circumstances I completely understand why you have to.

I'll be keeping you and your mother in my prayers.

Thank you everyone, you are all so comforting. I am so sorry to hear about how many of you have had parents or family members go through cancer! Im so sorry for those of you who have lost someone dear to them to this sickness. This weekend Sonic will be put on Craigslist! I am horrified to say Craigslist but he is not my parrot, so I have no say in the matter. So I pray he gets a good home eho will keep him. He is a hard bird to have and only someone who loves parrots and understands all he needs is love and TLC, then they will be the pest Parronts for him. But thank you everyone who is praying and thinking about us, that makes us comforted

what if there is someone closer to you who could take him, would you consider it? Not me, I'm in San Diego, but I may know of someone.

I got my Sydney from craigslist, so let's just pray that someone who really loves birds will take him. Just because it's craigslist doesn't mean it won't be a good home. I'd argue that a good portion of us on here peruse craigslist.
