CCC coating (Contains Dalkin Coating and Shin Tek coating) poisonous to parrots?

Hi,

I was looking for a stainless steel iron. The Sunbeam iron I inquired about has stainless steel soleplate (no non-stick like teflon).

However, the manufacturer replied saying "The non stick coating used inside is not made of ptfe. The coating is called CCC coating which contains Dalkin Coating and Shin Tek coating. "

Apparently there is a non-stick inside (I assume the heating coil) if not outside (on the soleplate).

Any idea if they are poisonous like teflon/ ptfe too?

I googled, but can't find any info.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When in doubt, use it in a well ventilated room, away from your bird.

High temperature coatings are an expensive addition to products that are price point sensitive. Using them inside where moving parts are near zero is at best confusing and at worst a marketing game.

The only areas inside that could gain from a coating would be on the coils to provide additional life, water / heat chamber to limit scale build-up and as a temperature limiting transfer barrier between metal and plastic surfaces. Two of these surfaces have no known use for a 'non-stick' coating and non-stick is a very expensive coating to off-set scale build-up.

Birdman666 advise regarding use in a high ventilated area is well taken and worth following.

Personally I'd just get plain stainless steel. I don't want to worry over cooking food.
