Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
So it started actually before I walked in the door. When I pulled in the driveway, the birds decided to have a screaming contest, like, my neighbors across the street, "what's up with that?" kind of screaming contest... So I walk in, and get the greeting, and calm everyone down. Which is nice... EXCEPT... one is missing. Where is Kiwi?! Okay, she's got to be on the playstand... no, not there... check under all the cages... NO KIWI! CALL HER, AND CALL HER... NO ANSWER... OMG! Where could she be...

Okay, change out of my work clothes, and then look high and low for her. Guess who decided to climb the stairs, and is actually perched on top of my dirty clothes hamper in my bedroom waiting for me... HIIIIII KIWIWIWIIIIII... WHAT A RELIEF! How did you get up here. Judging by the amount of bird poop on my carpet she's been up here awhile... So, she's happy, and verbal, and all warm and fuzzy... I take her back to her cage...

First macaw $hit fit! (Sweepea) Followed by a let's make this a competition I can throw a bigger $hit fit than you can... (That would be Maggie.) Both want to be picked up NOW! Sally, who is usually the first bird picked up, isn't going to wait, or throw a fit. She immediately flies to my shoulder... She and Kiwi are buddy birds, and they are both very animated and vocal tonight. That's actually kinda fun, except for the UNHAPPY MACAW NOISES going on in the background. Sorry, I didn't hear a thing you said...

So Sally and Kiwi go down on Kiwi's cage... Problem is Tusk and Lila are also buddy birds with Kiwi, and the vocalizations have piqued their interest... I may have mentioned this before... Lila and Sally don't get along. They're also both fully flighted at the moment. So Tusk and Lila fly to Kiwi's cage... Kiwi is a perfect angel, but this immediately sparks a top of your lungs war between Sally and Lila, complete with the full on amazon territorial intrusion displays. And Lila has had enough of getting bullied. IT'S ON NOW! So they are literally rolling around in a ball wrestling each other on Kiwi's playtop. AND THEY AIN'T PLAYING... EVER TRY AND SEPARATE TWO AMAZONS THAT ARE HAVING A TERRITORIAL DISPUTE AND ARE OUT FOR BLOOD?! YEAH, THAT'S FUN! WATCH YOUR FINGERS, BUT DO IT FAST BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT... HOPEFULLY NOT ME!

Kiwi decides to stay out of it, and calmly goes inside her cage and eats... Tusk however, is running around the play top, looking for cheap shot opportunities... Doesn't matter which bird, or for that matter, clean shot at a finger. Push him away, separate them, he comes rushing back in, they're rolling around again...

And of course, Sweepea decides THAT doesn't look fair so now SHE'S climbing the cage door looking to get in on the action... So I knock Sweepea and Tusk to the floor in that order... and of course, Sweepea goes after Tusk on the floor... and that little argument is also getting heated.

I manage to separate Sally and Lila... Each one goes to their cage playtop. Sweepea is next. TIME OUT. CAGE. Followed by Tusk. Who attempted to bite me. TRUST ME, I'M NOT IN THE MOOD FOR THAT KIND OF STUFF... He backs down and steps up... TIME OUT CAGE. OH, BUT WE'RE NOT DONE YET... SALLY IS FULLY FLIGHTED AND SO IS LILA, SO THEY DECIDE TO ENGAGE IN AERIAL WARFARE, AND DO THREE LAPS FLYING FULL SPEED DOING LAPS AROUND THE HOUSE WHILE ATTACKING EACH OTHER... quite literally three laps around the entire downstairs, while biting the crap out of each other in mid air.

I HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS!!!! Catch Sally mid air. Time out. Go in your cage. Lila is sitting on the floor waiting to be picked up. Time out. Go in your cage. THAT'S NOT FAIR, SHE STARTED IT!!! Now the amazons are arguing at full volume from across the room, about whose fault it was...

Four out of six are caged for the first time in ages... and it's beginning to sink in... and despite their rather vocal protests, they're in for the night. That's right, you messed up.... So no sooner do I sit down with a drink then guess who comes waddling up the stairs... Here's a hint, she's big, and red, and has been very loud tonight. (I am SOOO glad Sarah taught her to climb stairs!)

Anyway, CHECKED THEM ALL FOR INJURIES, EVERYONE IS FINE... and I still have ten fingers, and ten toes. BUT they've worn me down to my very last nerve tonight...

Yikes sounds like a nightmare!

Must be something in the air tonight! My guy did a complete 180 out of the blue and became very aggressive towards me tonight, lunging as he was sitting on my partners lap, and continuing once I got him back in the cage. 10 straight minutes of trying to rip my face off. Needless to say grumpy pants went to bed an hour early and got the cage covered for the second time since he got here.

Wow, there must be something in the parrot air because my flock has been LOUD and rowdy all day. The full moon is already past so I KNOW it can't be that. We do have a weather system moving in. Maybe it's that. Your flock report rattled my nerves just reading it, too. Good thing you restored order. Can't wait to hear where Kiwi goes walkabout tomorrow. . . :)

I feel for you, Mark! I'm glad there were no injuries!

On a happier note, it was very sweet of Maggie to come check on you after all the drama her flock mates caused.

Wow! Hell night for SURE. Glad everyone is okay! I wish we could speak "bird" so we could understand what set them off. Seems so unusual and out of character for your flock.

Hoping you have a better night tonight!

It's more like Sarah taught her to climb stairs before she left and undid all my stay in the bird room until i come and get you training...

Upstairs is for people... Not anymore!

And Kiwi, apparently learned by watching Maggie do it...

The genie is out of the bottle... Not sure we can stuff it back in on this one. At least not with those two...

As bad as last night was, this morning was six birds extra cuddly... with Lila and Sally sitting across from each other as if nothing ever happened.

I'm telling you it's just like human toddlers...

I'M RUNNING A DAY CARE!

Hey now they should have saved all that for "Mischief Night" (today). You'll have to tell them to mark their calendars and get it straight for next year. [emoji316][emoji317]

They didn't sleep in their cages. I let them all out at bedtime, and put them in their spots.

They are extra cuddly this morning.

It's just like little kids, when they're fighting with each other. When it's over, it's over... BUT SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS.

Even good birds REALLY MISBEHAVE once in awhile.

It really doesn't happen very often, BUT LAST NIGHT TOOK THE CAKE. WORST ONE OF THOSE I CAN REMEMBER.

She's never gone upstairs before. EVER!

She generally goes back and forth to her favorite playstand. I honestly don't know what is up with that, but she wasn't the least bit distructive, and she just kinda hung out waiting for me to get home...

I'm guessing she went looking for me... I really don't know. She is NOT flighted. She didn't fly up there. She had to walk up the stairs, and each one is about as tall as she is, SO, that in and of itself is pretty amazing...

No human taught her that, though Sarah taught Maggie to do it, and Maggie does it all the time now...

ONE OF THESE DAY'S THERE'S JUST GOING TO BE A PARADE WADDLING UP THE STAIRS...
