Calling all alexandrine owners

Hi there to all who are owned by an alexandrine

I'm wanting to add any who are willing to my buddy list for future reference please as I will prob need all the help I can get when my baby arrives in December
this is not my 1st bird but it is my 1st Alex and I can't wait

Please share with me and any others who join this forum a couple of your best/funniest/sweetest stories about your Alexs
please also add there name/age/sex/how long you have had them

My Alexandrine is my first my first bird since I was a child (32 now) and my first large (well, medium size) parrot. Her name is Buddy (aka Baby, aka Ms. Prissy Beak). I see you already posted a reply to my intro thread I also have a post in the Vocabulary thread http://www.parrotforums.com/general-parrot-information/5689-vocabulary-thread-5.html#post44895 that you might check out. My Alexandrine and I are new to each other, but so far she's an angel. Smart (especially when motivated by food), interactive, quiet, brave, curious, gentle, and generally lovely. She's a great non verbal-communicator, displaing obvious, unmistakable body language and a piercing stare that makes is almost impossible to missunderstand her desires. She's not the most vocal of birds, and her natural contact call is quite loud and high-pitched, thankfully she doesn't insist on using it a lot. She will whistle back and forth with me and when she does talk she has the cutest little squeaky voice! When she's angry, or in a bad mood for whatever reason, she will lunge and beak you, but the most savage bite she's ever given me ammounts to a hard pinch. She's a fastidious eater (by bird standards) and a her potty training is very strong, she'll let you know when she has to go and will ask to go back to the cage. New toys and household items are to be explored, not feared, and everything needs a good beak-probing before it can be set aside. She's never refused to try a new food atleast once, but there are things she's just not intetested in eating. I'm not sure how much of this behavior is Buddy's, vs Alexandrine, but she's a great bird and I hope yours is too!
