He's the one who loves to talk and mimick. He rarely makes natural calls. He has a fairly decent repertoire, but tonight he apparently really feels like saying "good boy". That's what he's been stuck on for hours.

When he knows I listening, he'll say "good?..... good??" As if I'm supposed to fill in the rest. I then say "boy". Sometimes of course I have to say no Raven, you're not being good right now lol.

He's been saying "good boy" himself too if I'm busy and ignoring him. But here's the problem, the past couple weeks he's started to say "goy". I say no Raven, 'goy' is not a word. But I usually ignore him or say "good boy" in hopes he'll stop saying goy. It drives me nuts, sometimes he'll keep saying "goy, goy... Goy" lol. He knows how to say good boy, he probably thinks he's being clever putting the two words together.

Do your birds who talk make up words like this that make no sense?

I wish.
Henry's still stuck on sneezing. He can talk up a storm but hubby won't stop laughing at the sneezes. So he goes "Ahhh....Ahhhh....Ahhhhhhh"......waiting for me to then do the 'Chooo'.

And then some times we get "Ahh, Ahhh, Mwah!" Instead of "kiss kiss mwhah."

Also driving me nuts. But I love it :)

I just love what they come out with. My favourite of Plum's is "what's up with you?" This is usually preceded by a very loud sneeze and to be heard when he feels he is being neglected and mummy hasnt come running.

I love it that Raven is a goy, goy LOL

Salty says his name as 'alty, having trouble with the S, some times. An he says it with so many different inflections, some times short and even, sometimes it more Saaaaalty, sometimes its with a upward inflection like a school marm.

And his rendering of Little Brown Jug is stiil changing. Sometimes he says "Ha Ha Ha, he he he" and stops. SOmetimes he will say "Ha ha ha ..... Meeee" And then sometimes he will get it right " Ha ha ha, you and me"

Lol! I'm loving all of this!

I get a lot of stuff like "Sweet-pea-wheel-eel" or "Hey-I-eel-little" or "Beau-you". Sometimes he starts out quiet and then begins to shout the words!

He also loves prefacing everything with little, so.. "little Beau boy, little peanut, little little little, little peep peep" etc. or "little PEA!"

For a long time "peanut" was pea-NUT CH! Talk about annunciation :) now it's "peeeea-nut". He doesn't even like peanuts

Ha ha, so cute. I would love hear hear his little voice saying that.

My galah says, "I'm a good bad boy." He merged the two statements he hears but it's still really funny. . . and TRUE at times! :)

I only get a screech when you say he's not a good boy especially when he's asked it as a question "bin a good boy?" err no especially as that is why you are sitting in your cage again.

Mind you he bypasses the telling off by saying he wants to go bub-byes when been naughty. Try keeping a straight face to that one? LOL

Raven is just speaking in shorthand!
Talli shortens some things, like what are you doing to what doing.
Slater has started saying Hi Little Bird, which we never say to the guys in the big bird room...he had to have picked it up from me talking about the little bird room.

Yep, shorthand. If we can make contraction shortcuts, why can't they? "G'oy!" Hahaha! I love it!

Thanks everyone. I enjoyed reading that Raven isn't the only one who does that!

Millie loves to say peek-a-birdie instead of peek-a-boo. And she oftern tells me that the puppy dog goes meow meow meow instead of the woof woof woof. She definitely knows the difference but does it deliberately cause she looks straight at me with I knowing glance. Just testing me I think. :)

Hahahaha! I love that Raven is taking verbal short cuts, it's absolutely hilarious! I can just imagine the back and forth conversation in my head too. Shiko definitely makes garblygoo when it comes to speaking. I honestly have no idea what he says sometimes... he'll fly onto my shoulder and stand up straight against my face saying something along the lines of "goodboywhatdoing-<car noise>-goodboygoodboygoodboyRRRR". Then shortly after he'll fly away. He makes zero sense sometimes. His current fascination is to yell "WEEEEEE!" at the top of his lungs, which always makes me fall over in laughter. Birds are great [emoji23]

George the YCA would mix up some of his words and phrases. Sometimes "Polly want a cracker" came out as "Polly wacker." "Pretty bird" he extended into "Pretty bird-ird" now and then. He'd also sometimes say "Want a parrot cracker" and "Pretty cracker." :)

That's funny. My mom has a 10 year old Princess of Wales parakeet, and when I first heard that he was a talker it surprised me, as I didn't think such a species would talk. He's pretty good at mimicking when he wants to, but he does a lot of that running words together as a long sentence that doesn't make sense. I love to hear his funny voice though.

One thing that always makes me laugh is Raven's definitions of the word "vegetable". One of the times he says it is when you give his fresh food dish. Sometimes he'll experiment saying it in different ways or real high pitched. It's hilarious. He also says "vegetable! vegetable!" when he means to say 'get away unless you want me to make you bloody!'

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
There is a lot going on in those bird brains! Don't know if we completely understand how they process language, but it endears them so greatly!

When Gabby was beginning to talk, he pronounced a "k" at the end of "bird." Sounded like 'birdk." Dropped the errant "k" after a while.

I say "Good boy" frequently, and Gonzo will say it, but now he's stuck on "Good buh" and he'll keep repeating it. I yell back, "No! Say it right!" ... "...Good buh."
