Okay, all you people out there with sweet, well-behaved, potty-trained, quiet, peaceable parrots... step aside! This thread is for the Rickeybirds of the world... randy, rancorous, rowdy, rude, rough, raucous, raging Rickeybirds, of WHATEVER family/genus/species.

I've had some recent exchanges here with other people who also have "difficult birds". I got to THINKING (everybody at once, say: "Oh, no!")...

Why not start a "Baddest Bird" thread... ?

We can all tell our terror-stories. At the very least, maybe some of us will say "man, my bird's not THAT bad". And the baddddest birds' people can at least say "See? I KNEW my bird was baddd!"

And I'm going first, baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where do I start? How about 1984?

That year, I bought this precious little chick at a bird store out West, and succeeded, over the next 30+ years (thanks to my unassertiveness and his natural personality) in developing a relationship with him which is all about the bird. The BAD bird.

In 2016, I found THIS PLACE, and found all of YOU.

Why is my bird BAD????

*He is loud! A happy 100-decibel screamer/singer/yeller all day long,
except for his nap time from noon to 2.
*He bites, and hard! I get bitten rarely these days, but only because of the
vigilant, extreme precautions I take constantly.
*He's messier than any bird I know. Purposefully, RECREATIONALLY throws
food at walls, ceilings, people... he'll go hungry to do it!
*He's rude to people... screams at them... he has insulted a priest and
SANTA over the years.
*And I will save the worst for last. He recently taught himself to sing the
chorus of J-Lo's "Booty" song. He happily sings about another woman's
booty, right to my face. After all I've done for him.

I humbly invite you to see his YouTube "movie" or check out his Parrot Forums Scrapbook... links below in my signature... and see for yourself.
He's BAAAD!!!

So... got a bad bird?

You are a diplomat and a gentleman, Mr. Wrench.

[The Rickeybird attended Salty's SKYPE birthday party... the Rb screamed himself breathless, snapping at me and mindlessly flapping up and down my body. Salty looked on in patient astonishment, nuzzling his daddy and in general, being one of THOSE BIRDS... the smart, sweet, sociable ones.]

But I'm not gonna hate. You'll never meet a more precious, pretty little guy than Salty.
NOT a bad bird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shall I refer you to my Evil Attack Parrot thread? The one where I posted a picture of him wielding a weapon? Goofy's is misnamed*. He's a bad boy.

*He got the name as a baby, because he kept falling off his perch among other silly things. His breeder** thought he was big goof ball. Little did she know the terror he would become.

**While he is a rehome to MrC, his original human is MrC's late wife's brother, who purchased him as a baby.

Griffin is my smallest of the 3 parrots, but by far the baddest :D. His worst offense has forced me to change the out of cage routine, and poor Robin had to get used to a blanket over his cage nowdays while Griffin and Raven are having their out of cage time while I supervise.

Griffin would NOT for anything stop "visiting" Robin (at Robin's cage), even after he knew it was bad. That only made him want to do it more. Robin hates other birds and will go for blood. Even after having his entire toenail bitten off twice, Griffin wouldn't stop trying. One nail now grows only to a stub, the other toe he permanently lost the nail. He was still itching to go "visit" Robin for some strange reason. Then, he told the less adventurous Raven that it was a fun thing to do....

And Charlotte is joining the bad birds club. I had her out on my knee, which she loves, and she suddenly got the bright idea to jump to the floor and go for a run. So I just finished chasing the naked, one winged, wonder parrot around the house. Stairs are apparently fun for her. MrC and I wound up having to use teamwork to get her cornered. She was just singing the bad macaw version of "na na na na na na na, you can catch me!" as she darted around and in between legs. That bird can run FAST.

I have a sweet bird. I call her Saint Parrot sometimes. But Beau isn't that bird. When my sweet bird offered her head for a scratch, just a baby, wanting his approval (not knowing any better yet), he would preen her for a minute or two.. then rip out a beak full of feathers.

He's also fond of making friends with people who let their guard down... then he'll march up their chest or arm and bite their lip or neck!

He's also great at flying at people he doesn't like and driving them toward the door.

On a tamer note, for the people he does like (mainly me, but he does have other friends, believe it or not), you ask him to talk or do a trick, he is happy to. But anyone I've dated? I've had guys spend half an hour asking him for a kiss, or to knock on the door and he just sits there silently until I ask. Then he'll kiss or knock ;)

With conures at least (oh and it helps that mine is little), I think the "bad" is part of their charm. Fiesty little brat!

THANK YOU FOR THIS THREAD

These sassy birds make my day πŸ˜†

I don't have anything too much to report with EarlyBird. But I do have some great memories of the late Bing. I'll give a few. He was fully flighted and uncaged except for bed. He had a real jerky personality, not so much with me, but with the world, haha. He was the kind of bird that didn't care about toys. Big small plastic wood expensive cheap bells whistles, didn't matter. Never chewed a toy in his life. Wouldn't swing, or play. He loved to hang out in the bathroom, I was in there one day in The vanity area and heard someone let out a big rip, I yelled excuse me, someone's in here....no answer.... I went looking and they were gone. Then I finally see Bing on top of the door. Made a perfect fart sound. Never did it again.
He would race me to my coffee cup every morning, fight me for my spoon of sugar, get a beakful and run away to gulp it down. Took me about to years to figure out he was sprinkling it on my scalp and I looked like I had giant lice.
The best was that he would rub his face really seductively with his foot and say 'ooooooooohhhhh bing bing what a pretttty preettttyy bbboooooyyyy gooood biiirrddd' totally embarrassing in front of others. It would seem obvious that I taught him those really sexy sounds, BUT I DIDN'T! He made it the words I would say sound really perverted.
I will never stop loving him. I miss him a ton.

Oh, I've told this story before, but the story about embarrassing vocalizations reminds me of another Goofy misbehavior.

His original human is a 60 something year old confirmed bachelor. He was 30 something when he got Goofy. Anyway, he was apparently fond of certain not appropriate for children movies. When he gets really bored he mimics the female actresses in those films. He also seems to know when MrC and I are playing the symphony in the dark and alerts the whole house by mimicking those movies. We have teenagers. This makes life interesting.

That's true! They do KNOW. How awkward and awful for goofy to announce it to the house. I'm so sorry!

My goose doesn't compare to your terror birds but he does do this thing were he picks all the banana pellets out of his food bowl and drown them in his water bowl and then take a bath in it so he is always plastered in bananas and smells like fruit punch haha

I love birds, lol! When we got Buddy, my 26 yo GCA, and while he's my best behaved bird, he has his moments with people and his actions. For example, he loves attention and tells everyone HELLO, over and over, he makes goo goo eyes and makes himself pretty sucking people in and then starts attacking. He now stays in his cage when people come over and they can approach him but not touch. I don't have to tell them not to touch, he does is routine and attacks the bars and ends with another HELLO. He will take treats from people. When he takes treats from Husband, he immediately throws them down, lol.

Piasa... Beau is a bad bird. Sounds unrepentant as well. Yeah, he may be little, but that lets him be FASSSST and tricky and hard to intercept! BAD! Saint Parrot and Demon Beau. Not sure if I've told you this story or not... I took the Rb to a Blessing of the Animals once...I figured: hey, it couldn't hurt. The priest was wonderfully gentle and caring towards all the animals there, laying hands on each in turn.. He got to us, and I was barely restraining the Rb, who was screaming and thrashing. The priest dared only touch the tip of his tail before saying "Some animals are less in need of a blessing and more in need of an EXXXXX-orrrrr-CISM!" We all had to laugh! I think Beau could use a little laying on of hands... of course, he'd bite them.

Cheryl... you are good and brave to acknowledge that your Bing was a jerk. Call it like it is. Yeah, a bit of a perv as well. That "Oooooooooh Binnnnng" stuff is just wrong on so many levels. If I visited you and heard that, I would just shake my head and have some really odd VISUALS. See, I'm not even sure I believe you (that you didn't say those things like that). I bet people here are looking sideways at you. Now THAT's a bad bird. Makes YOUlook bad even after he went to the Rainboow Bridge. I bet he's doing the same stuff THERE.

Beatrice... I am nw questioning what really goes on in your house. I want to believe you and Cheryl, but... do innocent little birds really do that stuff? OF COURSE THEY DO!!!! A truly bad bird makes one question oneself, too, like... right now, I'd like to hear that bird do those noises. I feel like I need a shower. BAD BIRD!!!

CDavis... that banana bath stuff is messed up. If I visited somebody whose bird was all plastered in banana gunk, I would think something somewhere is WRONG! Tell the truth: you roll that poor bird around in that stuff, doncha??????

Taw... Buddy sounds like that nice, naΓ―ve friendly guy in the horror movies who we worry about, but in the end, he turns out to be the unhinged villain behind all the evil goings-on. I think Baddess is BADDER when it disguises itself. Bad bird! At least the Rb is completely up front about his attitude and intentions!

We're innocent! I swear! Goofy arrived at MrC's house already making those noises. It's not our fault!

Actually, MrC had a long term girlfriend between his late wife passing away in the late 90's and me moving in almost 3 years ago. She lived here for a few years. The particular habit of Goofy's was a major point of contention with her, from what I've heard. But then again, she was mean to Goofy (part of the reason they broke up), so she deserved to be mortified.

Beatrice, you're off the hook, if only because I want to stay in your good graces in hopes of seeing a video of your little porn star someday!

Well, Cheryl, ya know they say the first step to a cure is to acknowledge there's an issue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still chuckle while picturing him saying that stuff st the Bridge.

Goofy is notoriously camera shy. I don't know how he knows, because even if I turn the sound off he knows if switched the phone camera to video and does his super amazing statue imitation. I do have some audio recording, but is have to go through thousands of hours of the recordings to find them. (We had our house audio recorded for almost two years because of issues with one of the kids. We wanted to make sure there could be no question as to what happened on our home.)
