Like each Sunday for the past month we had visitation in the nursery with our baby U2. Upon arriving at the bird hut we were stunned to see that some of the other babies had moved from the breeders house to the store nursery and they are AMAZING! Several different colors combos of McCaws - 11 baby McCaws altogether with my favorite being a blue front, a turquoise Amazon, beautiful lovebirds and a few older birds that were once at the aviary but are now for sale including Goffins, USC2 and a stunning African gray.
Our U2 won't be ready for a few months but after being around all these amazing birds I already feel the desire to grow our flock.
Is there a name for the phenom that makes you want more?
I quilt and I'm an admitted "quiltaholic." I can easily see how people end up with many birds. They're amazing,!!

I have a solution...
Just make your first bird one like mine.
Free-flighted, fearless, possessive, intolerant... a little Genghis Khan.

If you persist in getting a nicer bird as your first, you're on your own!

P.S.
A name for it?
How about psittaphilia?

I think it's multiple-bird syndrome! It's frequently mentioned here! So far I have managed to avoid it for the most part!

Yes, the operating term is: MBS.

One of the fastest cures is the 1000.00 USD Avian Vet invoice. Most people will likely never be faced with this level of 'In Your Face Reality Check.' But, it is very important to understand that it can and does happen.

Several Senior Members of the Parrot Forums have several Parrots. Whether they be all small or large or a mix, if you are willing to commit the money, time and lifestyle MBS maybe for you.

We are a Single Parrot (Amazon) Household (Single Parrot Syndrome) and because of what we do, we are faced with on-going high Avian Vet costs. But the real reason is the time demand that our Amazon requires. We see SPS meets the needs, first and foremost of our Amazon.

I'm having a really hard time with self-control right now. My bird is just about 3 months old now and we're still only able to see him once a week and now they have a new, 9 year old female U2 named Gracie for adoption and also a male, but not her mate. They're so beautiful, very loving and very smart. I have to keep reminding myself that the full impact of a U2 in the house hasn't happened yet and when it does I know it'll keep me busy. Having a baby AND a rescue would be nuts. But it's tempting!
