My little sprinkles will be a year old in march. He has come a long way or maybe I just have gotten to know him really well and he knows me so we don't have many issues any more. He was very nippy.

Now I have him on my shoulder more often and do things around the house with him on my shoulder he loves to watch me do stuff and check out what I am touching.

Things I do with him are

Wash dishes, do laundry, watch TV, home work with my daughter, prepare food, and Clean rooms. I have even vaccumed with him but he likes to yell at the vacuum so it is not that fun for me. I can't type with him he learned how to pop off the keys.

What do you do with your bird?

I do everything except clean with harsh chemicals. She loves to use my chest area as a jungle gym to get close to see things I'm doing with my hands. When I make coffee I have to be careful because she tries to hang off my shirt in a sort of free fall into the coffee bean jar lol. Poor thing still doesn't understand it's poison for her. She is always trying to eat or drink coffee.

Everything except cook or use chemicals :)

Anything else is fair game including showers, hiking, and shopping! Our birds love to live our lives with us!

Once a bird is trusted with shoulder privileges, virtually anything is possible. As others have posted, obviously harmful or hazardous actions and/or substances must be avoided.

What a fun thread!

Yep, just about everything here, too. Having the Rb along makes boring and repetitive stuff less boring and repetitive! Folding clothes... wiping the cage down... unloading the dishwasher... sweeping...
I only buy t-shirts (my main fashion statement) with broad, tight collar-bands and relatively tight fits so that the Rb can get an easy grip.

I address question and create Threads on the Parrot Forums!!! What else should I be doing? :D Oh, almost forgot: I provide Support Service for his Lordship!!!

I tried telling him that as listed above, Support Services fall under things to avoid - it didn't fly with him at all!

A service human...that's awesome!

Nigel has a little deformity on his left foot. It keeps him from hanging on steadily when on my shoulder. Therefore I have to be a bit careful. If I'm working in the office or standing he can be on my shoulder. Otherwise I hold him as I walk around.

Come-on, you heard that Dogs have Families, Cats have servants and Certain Parrots have Staff, right? :D

What a fun post!
Sassi is a shoulder surfer 99% percent of the time.
It might be easier to list what I CAN't do with her:
- talk on the phone (bites, chew, pull, squawks)
- drink wine (can't keep her away from the glass)
- blow my nose. She HATES any kind of white towel/rag. (bites, lunges)
- use the pepper grinder (bites, lunges)

Goofy (YNA), Oscar (Goffin 'too). Foster bird Betty (RLA). RIP Cookie, 1991-2016 ('tiel), Leo (Sengal), Charlotte (scarlet macaw). Grand-birds: Liam (budgie), Donovan (lovebird), RIP Angelo (budgie)
I'm with the ones that say that once a bird has shoulder privileges, the list of what we can't do is shorter than what we can do.

Leo stays on my shoulder nearly all day. I do set him down to use the toilet and to cook, and if I need to do something involving dangerous chemicals. That's about it.

Goofy sometimes shoulder surfs with MrC. He only allows it when Goofy is in the right mood. Right now Goofy is supervising MrC as he vacuums the pool.

None. My wife has one too many. Kidding!
What do I do during the rare events when the Rb graces my head or shoulder with his screaming, biting, flapping self?
Cringe, pray, cry like a baby for the Missus to come and retrieve her demon.................................

Every morning around 430 am I get up make my finances lunch..feed cats and hedgehog..then grab sissy. We lay under the blankets for about an hour..my arm around her..her head resting on my face. We shower together .and weather permitting we run errands together...but never on my shoulder...always on my arm in her harness. She is on me whenever she's not eating.mostly on my lap or on her back trying to get me to play.

My bird sits on my shoulder while we feed the pond fish.
Watching the fish has a calming affect on her, and me.

Salty pretty much sits on my shoulder as I do almost everything around the house ( I draw the line at going to the bathroom to do, ah... my ah, business). But I love most when Salty is on my shoulder while I am playing fiddle and concertina. What better place for a pirates parrot. He even sings along with us, as we play our sea shantys and foc's'le ballads.

So I feel my birds are always way too active to stay on my shoulder for most activities I do...they always get bored and travel elsewhere?? Doing laundry? Nope they're gonna go there and bite that laundry. Browsing the internet? No my glowy mouse and keyboard is way too much of a temptation to ignore! My hand can only be occupied to pet them!

inthink this works better with smaller birds than larger birds, or maybe it's an eclectus thing (weak perchers). I've been bitten twice by Parker on the ear pretty badly with him on my shoulder, and it was always when I make a sudden change of direction and he likely gets unsteady.

I'm afraid to have him on my shoulder when I'm up to household stuff because of this. Any sudden movement and slight unsteady on his part and I'm apparently liable to be nailed. So I only let him on my shoulder if I'm transporting him or if we are sitting on the couch.

Bahaha! Well I don't have a bird on me at all times but I have been known to take them to the bathroom with me; some of mine are too naughty to be left unsupervised while I relieve myself

For me it depends on what bird is on me.

While Opal is on me I do nothing, otherwise she bites my ear. She doesn't like me.

While Chrissy is on me, I read, water my indoor plants. He has a short attention span.

While Jordan is me she doesn't stay for long. She is way too active to sit still for 5 seconds. She has turned bedtime into a game.

While Elvis is on me I change the paper in the cages, change the food and water, train/play with the other birds, thoroughly clean the cages, water my outdoor garden, go for a walk, do some bird watching, roller skate, do my school work, write books, clean the room. He wants to be with me 24/7.
