Hi all. I got home this morning, opened Xanders cage and he keeps flying to me. Been about 8 times in the last hour. Thought id post for the reason why he is doing this because its something he has never done before. He seems his usual happy self and he is playing a lot which is trying to disconnect all of his toys for him lol. Its just strange. He always steps up and comes to me on his cage or calls me over to play but never ever flew to me except once or twice before.

It doesn't seem like anything is wrong with him, he is just himself, I just wander if he is trying to tell me something. Its always when I'm on my bed too and he never goes on there ever. He just fly's on me for cuddles.

He is 8 month old now and changed a little the last 2 weeks but just got even more lovely and tame and started saying words regularly, step up being his favourite, peekaboo sometimes, bob bob bob bob because that's what I say to him to make him bob his head, he loves that and good boy and then a lot of muffled words that sound like sentences. Maybe its just because he is growing up that he is flying to me? or he wants to fly more? I do want to teach him flight and recall. Its just weird when he does something new like this and I just try to figure out why so I can understand him better which I'm always working at.

Vid of him bobbing just for fun. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbzsCKNzJbs"]Xander bobbing and talking. - YouTube[/ame]

Thankyou x

Xander is such a handsome guy! From your photos and previous posts, my guess is Xander's quaker personality is evolving and he's discovering his wings. Quakers love to fly and they are amazing little aviators. My three quakers constantly surprise me with new words or behaviors. It would be a perfect opportunity to work on flight and recall with him.

He’s probably just discovering his wings! Encourage this, and take this as the perfect opportunity to teach him flight recall. My birds fly to me all the time, especially if I leave the room.

Thanks guys. Well in all honesty he was flying at 3 month old when I first got him. He had the option to come out the cage on day 1 onwards and he was off lol. Always fly's around in the house just never fly's and lands on me. He is being super sweet today though like I've never seen. Just the flying to me is what I didn't understand but its nice. Maybe its a bond thing and more trust or something. Ill start flight training him then as advised. Its a nice feeling when they fly to you on their own accord isn't it. I really do love the little scamp lol x
