Came across an article about double yellow headed amazons (which was actually not a bad article in the content). I'm not sure what kind of parrot they chose for the image is or if it's some kind of photoshopped fantasy parrot or what, but a DYH it is not! Any ideas of if this is a real species, and if so, what it is?

I have never understood why Authors and/or Publishers place a photo of a Parrot that is totally unrelated to the article.

Clearly not any part of the very large and expansive family Amazona.

Sizewise, possible in the Conure or like sized Parrots group(s). It's clearly a hook billed Parrot.

Insert: Any chance for a Link to the article?

Link was right below the image, but here it is again:

The weird part is, the content of the article is pretty accurate and informative (for someone who knows nothing about amazons and is looking into one).

Thank-You! I should have known that you would have included that Link! Again, Thank-You!

Brown throated conure!

I think you might be right Chris! I have never heard of a brown throated conure, but I'm not as knowledgeable on conures.

Yeah the brown throated conures are usually a lot duller but there are subspecies with pretty yellow colors on the face.

Both of the ones I’ve meet are the duller brown colors.

It's a very rare example of Amazonia Yankmychainus, or the single yellow head Amazon, known locally as the double dutyhead head parrot. Most sightings are between Sept 32nd through the 1st of Nowherevember

Sorry, just in an exceptionally silly mood tonight.

not the prettiest in the world, but being a conure I'm sure the personality more than makes up for it.

Conures are overrated haha. I doubt I’ll pick up another small conure again unless I come across something exceptional in personality. They are definitely not in my top 3 favorite bird species list (even though everyone says they are like little macaws... I don’t particularly see it most of the time) and I do have 2 very personable conures myself. The two brown throats I’ve met were nothing to write home about personality wise. I don’t think they are ugly either just one subspecies is duller than the other subspecies of brown throat *shrug*

And I must be exceptionally tired...I accepted your sentence as Truth, because Wrench knows his stuff.

Then I read about your silly mood :D:eek:
