Any interest in a lending library?

I’ve been buying spare copies of parrot books when i find them with the idea of forming a lending library. This way people could get some good info without having to buy a ton of books. The lending would be free, with the borrower just paying the postage. The Guild of Bookworkers has a similar system for members, but membership is expensive and they charge a deposit, so they have some leverage for getting books back.

Is this something you would find helpful? Say there was a joining fee - which would go toward getting more books to lend - and some kind of refundable deposit to make sure the books are returned....who woukd be interested? I have some if the harder to find books like the Beak Book which is expnsive, but full of really good information.

Suggestions, comments?

I would be interested. It sounds like a good idea.
I've been looking around for good books myself, though some are quite expensive and hard to find.
Having a place to find resources without spending to much money, using space and having access to harder to find books would be very helpful.
I'm definitely behind this idea. I'd even happily donate a few funds or even books to the cause.

Edit:
I have one suggestion though, which is to have a trustworthy member in each country hold a number of books. International postage can get quite expensive.

Currently I have none, but I have the capacity to adopt a minimum and maximum of two budgies - preferably a bonded pair or two males.
Hi Wikileaks

Nice initiative. I am an avid Parrot book collector and have perhaps about 40 or more books in my house.

I had a copy of this book named Encyclopaedia of Budgerigars by George A Radke , that I gifted to one of my friend. But now I want it again and sadly it is not available in India, rather the price on Amazon is quite exorbitant.

Also there are many books that are now available as online pdfs.

cheers

I like the idea. Sadly the only contribution I could make is a copy of Companion Parrot Handbook. Great starter information. How do you envision this? a List of books available, the member who has it, and if the book is already out on loan. Also a list of people who do not return books.
