Does your bird do goofy/naughty things?

Hi everybody!

I was writing another post in the behavioral section just a moment ago, and it got me thinking. Do your birds do dumb and sometimes naughty things? I'd love to hear about the trouble they get into. Personally my tiel, Iggy, loves to take anything you set in front of her and throw it violently to the ground.

• Once my mother had a credit card next to her on the couch, and Iggy walked over and threw it off the couch, and straight into a glass of coke.

• Iggy loves to walk on beds and blankets as well, and really sink her toes into the soft fabrics- we've tested if she wants to just be in the area or if she likes the texture, and indeed she just really likes soft things on her feet!

• She also enjoys going for a stroll on the hardwood floor and slapping her feet to make noise.

• Iggy is an unusual case and even though she's female, she talks. But she has to be in private. Private includes in her pet carrier with me directly beside her, or on top of the light fixture above the bathroom mirror.

• Iggy loves my dad, and if she hears him from downstairs she will fly down the steps and to wherever he is just so she can sit on his shoulder and cuddle.

• My budgie, Stanley, has a love for falling asleep with his head inside a bell.

• I'm also pretty sure he's spent approximately 90% of his life upside down. He's thinks he's a bat. He grooms himself upside down, naps, and has attempted to eat.

• When I had just gotten Stanley and didn't know any better, I usually let him stay out of his cage unattended while I went to class. (I did cover anything he could get into besides this-) He developed a habit of chewing on the window screens, and one day I came home to a screeching angry budgie who had wedged himself between the glass and screen and was too fat to get out.

• Stanley is a notorious tea thief. My mother had a cup of lemon and ginger tea one day, and Stanley hopped off of me to waddle over and jump onto her cup, only to proceed to help himself to her tea in about 5 massive gulps.

That's all I can think of that my birds do right now, but I'd love to hear from you guys!

Elvis courts everything and everyone.

Jordan is just plain evil, unless you want to lose a toe or finger, you can't be in the room while she is out of the cage.

Opal sleeps on the side of her cage. Not on a perch like the others, she clings to the side and sleeps there all night.

Skittles doesn't do much other than get mad when you ignore her.

Out of all of my birds, Jordan is the worst. I never thought a lovebird could be so "evil", but then again, she is hormonal at the moment.

I love my little flock.

My Quaker takes his toys down and apart all the time. Every day i have to reassemble at least 2. Even the metal screws he can undo but its just his way of playing i guess. He argues his case if i tell him off for something lol and always has an answer like a child would. When i used to take him to my girlfriends at the time he would always let the hamster out his cage haha x

I think he would approve of Stanley, Elvis, and Carl's boy!

He sounds really smart actually! Maybe he and the hamster were secretly buds.

Nigel is so naughty sometimes and he does it on purpose. When he’s put out with me he will stand at the top of the cage and bob up and down jabbering and flapping his wings. Then, he will go to his play stand and throw everything down to the floor. Once that is done, i begin lecturing how naughty he is. He looks square at me and says “nooooooo.” And then the cycle starts all over again.

The only way to end the cycle is to stop everything and let him complain on my shoulder at length. Once he is satisfied that I understand how bad i have been, he will snuggle in for a head scratch and beak grinding.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Squeaky is the youngest, largest, and most playful of my Goffins offspring. He lives in a room with his mother, one of his brothers, and a TAG. When riding on my shoulder and exiting the room, he immediately flies to his oldest brother Gabby's cage in the family room. It is a playtop with newspaper neatly placed to catch the mess. Squeaky loves to dig for the bottom layer of paper and pull it out and start tearing it to shreds. (this of course messes up the other layers) He reserves a wad of newsprint and rubs it under his right wing. Silly bird!

I'm not sure why we all still think we own our birds. This shows me who's in charge haha

Would it really be the same without them harassing you? Their behavior can be downright annoying at times, but you couldn't imagine being without them. They really are like toddlers.

Omg... I've heard quite a few cases of people having the cops called on them because of things like this, only for the police to find it's a parrot. Salty is being naughty and he knows it!

This sort of sounds like my tiels, who decided to have a mini protest because I changed their bedding from newspaper to paper towels. They decided to rip it into tiny shreds which destroyed any protection the cage grate had!
