Are mini macaws loud?

So well thatís the question, are yellow collared or severe macaws loud?
For loud I mean, loud enough for your neighbor to hear it in an old apartment if that make sense hahaha.

Re: Are mini macaws loud?

Yes. Any parrot larger than a budgie/cockatiel/lovebird (even conures) have the potential to be loud enough for apartment neighbors to hear. Not every individual parrot is loud enough to not be able to live in an apartment, but it's a risk you take and then what happens to the poor bird if, like birds do, it enjoys vocalizing? If you want a bigger bird than a budgie/tiel than I suggest looking at an avian rescue for a mature individual known to be quiet. Parrots bought at babies change a lot at a few years old when they go through puberty, but an older bird generally has a set personality so it may be possible to find a fully adult bird past puberty (in mini macaws, that would probably be birds 10+ y/o) who happens to be a quiet individual. You might also want to consider parrotlets. They are roughly the size of a lovebird or budgie, but have more of a big parrot personality, which a lot of people find to be a great balance for apartment living.

Re: Are mini macaws loud?

Any macaw has the potential to be LOUD . And Severe macaws are one of the more difficult macaws, and do better with someone who has experience with them . Macaws in general are always testing the limits, pushing the boundaries. Use the Search button on the top of the page look for posts by BIRDMAN666 who is our resident macaw expert.

Oh okay, itís because I found in a breeder a yellow collared and he was saying in was perfect for apartment living. I searched for parrotlets but looks like there are not here (in Belgium) I cannot find them anywhere :/

They are here, but not very common

try https://www.aviornis.be/
and there are a lot belgian breeders on https://www.vogelarena.com/ ->

they have a forum (not subtle! it's mostly breeders, so no cuddling the bleeding heart people or beginners) most of it is "for sale/ wanted".
(Do NOT buy from the italian import guy: his birds are always ill, broken etc. Afaik know the germans, belgian and dutch breeders there are okay- doubtfull about the tsjechs, mixed messages on them.)

Re: Are mini macaws loud?

A "mini Macaw" is exactly the same as a full-size Macaw, just smaller. They are not at all like a Senegal or any other species, they are Macaws. And as such, they are LOUD.
