Not so much of an important post, but I felt like giving an update on things. I dropped off Charlie today to stay with a lovely lady who owns an amazingly gorgeous eclectus parrot. It’s my first trip away from Charlie and these first few hours it has become obvious how much my life revolves around him. It’s odd not having the goof ball around, breaking things or making weird noises. I did drop off my puppy at the same place, it was apparent I am one of those parents who play favourites.... lol I spent 5 minutes with the pup and an hour with Charlie to say good bye. :blue:On another note, I am super happy to finally be able to go on holidays. It has been a long time coming. :orange:

I happy for you too. Holidays are needed! Lol

I dont have a parrot, but my house sparrow (to me) is so high maintenance (and spoiled) I havent been able to spend even a night away from him for a couple years now. I always stress if I am not home right after work because we have such a set routine.

I dont have any friends or family that are as familiar with caring for birds as I would like them to be, so I would just stress and worry.

My birds have their own behaviours good and bad, that it wouldnt matter how much I stressed "watch where you walk" or "always watch doors as you close them behind you" or "make sure there is nothing they can eat off the floor".... the list goes on and on.

I know i am over protective and worry too much. I hope one day i can get a fellow bird friend I would feel comfortable leaving my babies with so maybe I could spend a night away, or a week or maybe even sleep in, just once? Lol

Good for you, enjoy it for the rest of us, and try not to worry.

Enzo - adopted Female CAG circa 2004. A truly amazing young lady!
Its hard being away from the fids isnt it, but it is very important you get away for a break from normal lifes routines. The times ive been away from Enzo i think of her constantly, sometimes whistling her even when many many miles away.... Getting back to greet them has always been a fabulous experience though, Charlie will miss you for sure and be very happy to see you again.

I actually think being apart from the birds is a good thing for both sides.
