Foot-feeding notwithstanding... one word for parrot (a bit obscure) in Spanish is papagayo...

My bird prefers eating from her feet...And, when seeking attention, dropping food on my head with her feet. I am actually shocked that she hasn't given up yet, as she never gets attention in this dysfunctional little parrot world. Then again, maybe she is just bored and enjoys seeing the pellets bounce off of my head LOL..I have ignored it for so long...She is a nut....My favorite thing about her food dropping moments is that she pretends to put a pellet in her mouth (BUT DOESN'T) and then drops the entire handful onto me while I am crouched at my laptop...We are talking 8+ pellets...LOL..such a waste, but so arbitrary that it is secretly, HILARIOUS.

Thanks for sharing that fun story, I can picture it! Penny is right footed, and has a very large leg band on her right dominant foot. She almost never holds food to eat, 
I think that dang band annoys her! I've never seen her mess with the band, but being it's her dominant foot, I'm getting it removed!!!! I've just now decided too!!!

It is cute...but so bad!
My little sister (college-age) was visiting and she looked at me with wide-eyes and said, "SHE DID THAT ON PURPOSE...WHAT A BRAT! SHE IS PRETENDING TO EAT SO SHE CAN DO IT AGAIN!"
My reply was something like, "Oh yeah, don't make eye contact..this happens every-other-day when "come here" doesn't work" lol!

Oh yes! Every night, I think, thank God....she is asleep (yahoo!). Then every morning---(granted, a little less-so on workdays), I am like "WOOHOO WAKE UP BABY BIRD!"---It is crazy how excited I am to get her out of the cage, even though she drives me crazy 60% of the time once she is out...if not more lol.
It is so very odd to be so in love with someone so RIDICULOUS.

I spend the vast majority of the day with the fids. I also feel a little relieved when they are put to bed. However within an hour or less I get bummed out that they aren't able to chill with me in the evenings
Doesn't take long to start missing them.
And yes if one of them isn't driving me crazy the other one is( yes it is a short drive and doesn't use much fuel).

I think most parrots are left-footed. I heard that on Radio 2, so I'm fairly sure it's a real fact! So Laurasea I think Penny is quite usual.
Yes indeed most are left footed, my other two are left footed. I've read it's about the same % as people who are left handed. I've also read that there is a slightly higher percentage of right footers being pluckers, and she is a plucker..though I've since learned it is being hand raised vs parent raised that leads to pluckers,not that all butds will, but before we hand raised there were almost zero plucking parrots, even wild caught adult parrots forced into captivity didn't pluck, that some strong evidence!

I heard that too in a documentary film about parrots. I found an information about observation wild IRN's in one place. There was 184 these birds. 102 of them were left-footed and 82 - right-footed
