parrot fire rescue

Just an FYI news you can use kinda thing.....(no affiliation)

Because I've been looking up first aid and parrot stuff I guess this came across my recommended list.

https://www.amazon.com/PLEASE-RESCUE...teway&sr=8-137

They have a few different colors available if you do a search.

I'm buying one now but I'll put it on the inside of my window of my bedroom. With any luck I might also be saved but if the conures make it in a tradgedy, at least I did my part.....

Re: parrot fire rescue

My only issue that also alerts neighborhood bad guys that valuable pets are inside. Better to have a Plan A and a Plan B in case of emergencies and practice it a few times. We keep Salty's PoB right next to has cage, open, and do a dry run every once in a while. You have 2 flighted birds so the srategy has to be different than ours. Salty is used to me or Geri Scooping him up and popping him into the PoB.

Does Clark and Zod have a 'Come to me' recall command? Maybe something for you to be training for?

Re: parrot fire rescue

I'm a semi rich (at least I do nice for myself) individual living in a great neighborhood... Neighbors sometimes forget to close their garage doors...

I'm not afraid of theft...I'm afraid of something happening at work when I work nights. I'd prefer my cul-de-sac neighbors know to get my parrots help if the need arises.

Ya, I would not like to advertise my birds either.
I would like to put a sticker on the back of my car that shows a parrot chasseing stick people.
The caption reads "My parrot eat your stick family"
But I don't advertise my birds.

Re: parrot fire rescue

again I'd rather have the firefighters clamoring to be on tv for saving my parrots than anything I fear from my particular neighbors... they all know I own at least one parrot clark...because he defends me while I do yard work. never know what a blue jay or robin might do....

I have one similar, I bought at the pet store, the owner is a breeder, and have it outsider my door since Kise was home. I am not rich but living in quite pricey neighbors, so I am not afraid of theft either... I forgot to lock my door most of time. Packages delivery around neighbors, outside doors, and no one worry it's really depend on where you live.

Re: parrot fire rescue

I was just having this discussion with my head before the post---I want people to know that she needs to be rescued in the event of a fire, but I too am afraid to advertise her presence.

...or, if I get injured, someone will need to be notified to come feed her etc----if I can't speak for myself, how would anyone know? My parents are out of state. Friends/co-workers, boyfriends etc may not be notified right away. Makes me a bit nervous, like I need a parrot note on my driver's license lol.

Re: parrot fire rescue

FYI #1: When we moved in to our new neighborhood, my first visit was to our local fire station for two reasons: 1. Our home was new and I wanted to let them know its address as Google placed it a half mile north and 2. that we have an Amazon Parrot.

- What they recommend regarding saving our Parrot.
They stated: Place a sign on the inside of the window along the bottom and State: Bedroom with Pets.
They will make every effort to find and remove Humans and Pets (and yes that includes Parrots).

FYI #2: We have visited each of our neighbors with Julio in tow to introduce them to him and let them know that he likes to greet the mornings Sun! Our biggest problem is our neighbors encouraging him as they walk by during their morning walks.

If your neighbors know about the Parrots (face to face) they will be shouting it to the Firemen as the trucks roll on-site.

Yes, Sir.. I agree.. I did that, and I have always walked Kise around the neighbors for months, until the day she took off... I have not been doing the long distant walking... Just the short distant because I have not let her fully training on the harmless yet..
