I wish I knew more about Lincoln's history. Other than the brief 3 months that the lady I got him from had him, I know little to nothing. I know some man had him before that but for how long? Where did that man get him from? (Why the f*** did he name an eclectus Ferrari??) Why doesn't Lincoln have a leg band? In my state it's illegal to sell birds without a leg band, so did he come from a negligent breeder? A hobbyist breeder? Did he come from out of state? How many owners has he had? Did one of those owners remove the leg band?

So many questions I will likely never get the answers to since I have 0 way of tracing his history. I wish I still had the woman's number that I got him from so maybe I could ask if she remembered the man who she got him from so I could ask him if he has any more information.

I guess that's the sad thing about rescue parrots. There's just so many parrots that no one knows the history of. No one knows where they came from, who's households they have passed through. How many names has the bird had? It's all just lost and probably forgotten. No one knows except the bird.

I feel the same way. As my male umbrella Cooper didn't have a history on him and rescued him at a garage sale? He live in a back of a garage with reptiles and other parrots in a small cage that wasn't suitable for even a Cockatiel. He had many heath issues thankfully recovered, but likely never know his story?

He probably was stolen? (that what thieves do when they can get away with it: remove the legband asap so there is no longer proof of ownership)
But negligent breeder is also an option, just like 'smuggled in from the wild' or " removed by CAV because of issues with it'.
There are just too many options


It is *so* frustrating (the not knowing) but you just make the best of it... life never comes with a manual, so why would a parrot be different

Adopted birds come with heaps of "baggage" in many cases. Sometimes the best we can do is overcompensate to give them the best possible lives. Of course a natural curiosity strives for answers.

Do you know the woman's name; so many paths to track via the internet.

I know how you feel.
Luna was a rescue and I have many questions about her. All I have is speculation based on her behavior.

And there is a red Lord Amazon at the pet shop that was found in Palmdale. Why did no one look for her?

My guess in both cases is that the people that got them had no idea just how loud they were.

Many people remove the leg bands, I did. It was catching on my GCC leg. My quaker came from a breeder that didn't put one on, because quakers are known to have problems chewing on their feet.
I wish I knew Penny's background and how old she is..

usually it's fine, bands are just used to track a bird but the formatting of the bands are pretty much meaningless except to the breeder who had them made since all breeders have different ways of tracking a bird. But in a lot of cases it can give a state and year the bird was born which can be helpful in the case of a rescue
