Harness training with Salty

Sponsored Links
I took a short video on the method I use to get Salty used to wearing his harness. The link is below. We do this every evening, sometimes twice in the training session.

Re: Harness training with Salty

Amazing, Al! Wish I could train mine and share the great outdoors. Sadly, too many aggressive raptors.

Re: Harness training with Salty

I have been saving this one for a rainy day... and am not disappointed!

"\o/ thats the way to do it \o/ aha aha \o/ "

For my mistakes: I admit I did not pay enough attention to the "walking aroud with the weight of the aviator on him" part and that is probably why they freaked out later in the process when I did no longer support a part of the weight.

Great, great demonstration.

Thank you AL.
Salty: you are utterly adorable (as always when we see you at your best behaviour)

Re: Harness training with Salty

Thank you. I hope it helps owners get a handle on familiarizing their parrot to the harness, so when the real deal happens, putting it on fully, the parrot does not freak out. LOL, I didn't video the next part, where I bundle the harness into a hank, and let Salty throw it off the table. I think he enjoys that part the best. Any time he gets the "Throw it away" command he promptly takes what is in his beak, walks to the edge of the flat surface and drops it overboard.
