*Iā€™m writing this for a friend who does not have an account*

She has a double yellow amazon and apparently itā€™s like 2-3 days that every time she sees her boyfriend she flies away and donā€™t let him approach.

They were really good in the beginning so she doesnā€™t understand anything. When he approaches the bird she flies away, like if she was scared of him. Which is weird suddenly like that.

They live together, so she can see him everyday.

If you could help her she would be happy :)

Thanks guys

Jose :)

Has anything about the boyfriend changed recently? New hair color or style? New glasses? Has he been stressed from work? Did he at some point get upset with the bird? Even just putting off an angry vibe or accidentally shouting can frighten a bird... That or did the couple have a fight where the bird got scared?

Finally received the answer. Apparently nothing changed.
The bird will fly to him and sit on his shoulder or head but once he sees his hands he will be scared and fly. Any suggestions ???

Have the person the bird is afraid of offer and feed the bird special treats. Do this when the bird is in the cage and cant fly away.
It might take a while. If the bird is fearful at first back away, don't force it.

best thing I can think of.

yeah itā€™s what I told him, apparently he will go to take the treat, but afterwards once he sees his finger he will shout and fly

It took my little Lilly Pilly a good 3 weeks before she was happy to take a treat from my hand, but once she did she never looked back. Your friend will have to be very patient and consistent and take things at the birdā€™s pace, however slow that may be. But you probably already told them that :)

Yeah I did, but the thing is that the bird was perfect with him, it was suddenly 2 or 3 days ago that he became scared

Who truly knows what goes on in those little birdie brains? Something has upset the bird which may not be apparent to your friend, so they are probably just going to have to work on re-establishing the trust they once had.

Do you know how old the bird is? My ex-green cheeked conure Baci became almost a completely different bird after he hit puberty. It took a lot of work and patience to re-establish our relationship after that - even his very favourite treats didnā€™t work!

Maybe a little young for puberty, possibly more like the toddler stage then. Pushing buttons and pushing boundaries! Patience and consistency is the name of the game :)
