My name is Patty, thank you in advance for any advice on this situation. I have been searching for any guidance and cannot find anything on this symptoms.

I recently acquired a 8 baby Ringneck parakeets. I'm currently hand feeding. I have worked for an exotic avian vet for 16years and have hand raised several of my own birds and for the vet I worked for.
I'm not certain but could be aspiration or I fed a cooked scrambled egg and possibly bacterial.
3 babies that usually are very vocal are now silent. Strangely they bob and a little hiss noise is made but no voice. Two of the 3 this morning are looking depressed. I noticed yesterday and have been researching. I have TYLOSIN and OXYtetracycline and Doxy. NOt sure if to use one of these or something else....
Can anyone suggest if either of the above would be beneficial. What's the treatment of choice for Fungal if this maybe the case. We always gave both regardless.
Please don't judge me and say go to a VET as I can not. First there is none near me and I care for my mother whos passing and cant leave her as I'm her only caregiver and have no one to assist me.
I'm keeping the three separate and warm now. but want to start with the best antibiotic treatment. There is a store nearby that sells any and all antibiotics for birds. If someone suggests something other than what I have I may be able to locate there.
Thank you so much for your suggestions:blue1:

Uh oh hope the babies are okay. What a mystery....

How old are these babies?

How warm are you keeping them in your brooder? How are humidity levels?

Did the scrambled eggs have any spices added?

Are you weighing babies daily to see if they are gaining or losing weight?

How hot is the formula you are feeding them? How do you feed, syringe, spoon, etc.? Are you making sure to wash all equipment after feeding?

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Welcome Patty, I hope you are able to address the issue and raise them all to adulthood.

No time for judgement, the welfare of the chicks is paramount. Nobody on this forum is a vet or rvt, yet there is a deep base of knowledge. Unfortunately I lack expertise to share, only encouragement.

Do you have a working relationship with your former employer? Any possibility of telephone consult? There are online and video conferencing veterinary services, perhaps that is an avenue to pursue?

Best of luck to you and the chicks, please keep us updated.
